Lasciatemi sfogare! (Cit.) 'New Crown' è il terzo album pubblicato dagli australiani Wolfmother uscito il 23 Marzo 2014. Ho deciso di recensire questo album per svariati motivi che non sto qui ad elencare ma parto dal fatto che io, i Wolfmother, li apprezzo. Non tantissimo eh, però i primi due dischi ogni tanto in rotazione sul mio stereo ci vanno e anche volentieri direi, specialmente il primo. Li ho scoperti nel 2014 in realtà e questo album era già uscito quindi dopo aver fatto il rodaggio con i primi due mi sono amdato a sentire questo. Quasi dimenticavo, prima mi sono letto anche un po' di infomazioni riguardo al gruppo e ho capito che 'sto Stockdale sembra proprio essere una "primadonna" se mi passate il termine. Uno di quelli che è meglio non averci a che fare, oppure se ce l'hai nel gruppo, mollarlo e lasciarlo andare per la sua strada (anche se alla fine farà successo) ed infatti è così che è successo con i membri "originali" dei Wolfmother.
Tornando al disco, dopo il primo ascolto mi sono chiesto: "ho comprato un disco dei Sabbath senza saperlo?", perchè la sostanza del disco in è questa, sembra un disco dei Sabbath. Fosse solo questo il punto mi potrebbe anche andare bene perchè sono uno che ascolta i Rival Sons e gli Airbourne (e quindi potete trarre da soli le conclusioni), il problema è che per me è veramente un album indegno, indegno di essere pagato sette dollari e indegno di essere chiamato album. La qualità del suono è veramente pessima (e non tollero che qualcuno mi dica che questo è voluto per dare un effetto sempre più vintage al disco) per essere chiamato un album dal valore di sette o più dollari. Capisco fosse un gruppo amatoriale, ma siete i Wolfmother cazzo. Se lo aveste chiamato "New Crown - Sessions from the Garage" lo avrei apprezzato di più perchè so cosa mi aspetta e allora posso apprezzare l'effetto "supergrezzovintage" ma qui ce lo vendono come album, quindi mi aspetto un suono che valga i soldi che ho speso. E il punto che più mi ha fatto sbarellare è l'assolo di "Tall Ships"... ma stiamo scherzando? Anche se il disco ve lo siete registrato, prodotto e rilasciato da soli possibile che accettiate un assolo del genere su un vostro album? Lo avete registrato in presa diretta? (Lo accetterei se ci fosse scritto "albu registrato in presa diretta"!) E lo stesso la canzone seguente "Feelings", un pezzo punk che sembra buttato li a cazzo, per far numero.
Possiamo chiuderla qui, mi sono sfogato. Non sono ancora sicuro se ascolterò il nuovo disco appena uscito, magari aspetterò una DeRecensione. Ah comunque alcune canzoni di questo disco non sono neanche male ma è tutto il contorno che purtroppo mi ha rovinato questo disco. Non ho avuto modo di confrontarmi con nessuno su questo disco e non mi stupirei se qualcuno mi dicesse che con questa recensione ho preso un grosso granchio. Che inizi il flame.

Questo disco è enorme. Quasi all'altezza dei grandi capolavori dei gruppi a cui si ispira.

Nulla di nuovo in queste tredici tracce, ma suonate da un gruppo di tre uomini con una tecnica che in questi anni è difficili trovarne.
Questo disco è la dimostrazione che il vero cambiamento musicale si può avere solo con i vecchi generi musicali ormai morti.
