Immagina un sogno bellissimo, un sogno che credi impossibile, una visione di bellezze inesistenti, di bellezze utopiche, una visione del cielo e della terra che si incontrano. Immagina un piacere infinito, un giorno che sembra non finire mai, un giorno di sole splendente e di grandi speranze e altrettante certezze.
Immagina di camminare sull'acqua, di poter scalare le montagne più alte, immagina il sole che non tramonta mai all'orizzonte e il sorriso della gente accanto a te. Niente odio, niente rabbia, niente tristezza, niente depressione! Sei nell'universo come cittadino di mondo e da bravo cittadino di mondo vivi di ciò che realmente ti serve, vivi di ciò che ti rende felice, stai con la gente e non temi niente e nessuno, dormi tranquillo la notte e ti svegli altrettanto tranquillo.
Immagina un mondo dove puoi fare la differenza, un mondo senza confini e dove le possibilità vengono a cascate, se fai un errore puoi riparare, se ottieni successo passi allo stadio successivo. Immagina di svegliarti una domenica mattina e di stare bene con te stesso, di essere particolarmente sobrio, particolarmente vivo. Immagina un cielo senza nuvole, senza increspature, senza difetto. Sarebbe bello un mondo dove non ci fossero guerre, dove non ci fossero religioni, dove non ci fossero litigi inutili, dove il denaro non avesse più valore di una relazione tra uomini e donne, bambini e anziani. Immagina tutto questo e sorridi perché speri. Continua a sognare, perché non sei da solo nel mondo e c'è altra gente che spera come te che un giorno cambierà il mondo. Non preoccuparti di nulla, non aver paura di niente, perché niente fa paura se pensi positivo. Semplicemente immagina!

La canzone più importante dell’album è sicuramente "Imagine", che divenne come tutti sappiamo un inno epocale.
"How Do You Sleep?" è un blues arrabbiato, un sasso scagliato in piena faccia al vecchio amico Paul, frasi durissime, piene di risentimento e ostilità.
