Gli anni '90 sono la decade musicale che amo di più, forse perchè anche il mio disco preferito di sempre è uscito in quegli anni, nel 1998 per la precisione. Si tratta di "Moon Safari" degli Air, duo francese composto da Nicolas Godin e Jean-Benoît Dunckel. Le recensioni erano positive e il video gay-friendly su MTV mi avevano incuriosito, così a Porta Portese mi comprai una copia usata ma in ottimo stato del cd. Il cielo stellato che vidi sollevando il cd dalla custodia mi indicò quello che trovai nel disco: un viaggio tra stelle e comete nello spazio siderale, niente seriosità classicheggianti però, ma ritmiche moderatamente "disco", vocoder, moog, e mellotron, un arredamento sonoro "vintage" che era però indubbiamente bene ancorato al presente, e io speravo, all'epoca, anche al futuro, ma poi nessun altro album di questo gruppo mi piacque. "La Femme d'argent" che apre il disco è quasi una mini colonna sonora sci-fi, poi il singolo "Sexy Boy", ammiccante ma fascinoso e la bella e ritmata "Kelly Watch the Stars" dedicata a una della Charlie's Angels. Un paio di brani sono soavemente cantati da Beth Hirsch: "All I Need" e "You make it Easy", ecco poi le introspettive e romantiche "Ce Matin La" e "New star in the Sky" fino al capolavoro che chiude l'album: una struggente e mozzafiato "Le voyage de Penelope" da ascoltare a palla per decollare verso il safari sulla Luna.
