Occorrono varie premesse ai lettori (futuri) di questa recensione. Dopodichè la leggerete, ci farete su un'interpetazione tutta personale, vi scaglierete contro di me come dei forsennati (se mi va bene) e poi giù con tutto il vocabolario di insulti che avete acquisito nel corso della vostra vita (se mi va male come prevedo).
Ciò detto le premesse di cui sopra: 1) ho scoperto nei meandri della rete questo sito solo un mesetto fa e, prima di poter solo pensare di buttar giù qualcosa, sono andata a spulciarmi recensioni di ogni tipo su svariati artisti (e non...); 2) dopo la lettura a volte distruttiva a volte esilarante di certe critiche sono giunta alla conclusione che c'è gente davvero odiosa che non si limita a dissentire dalle opinioni altrui... NO, BISOGNA DISTRUGGEREEEEE!! a questa gente mediocre con un cervello di gallina che ha degli orizzonti piccoli e che, per l'impossibilità di prevalere, tende verbalmente ad imporsi io dico: i vostri commenti offensivi fanno ridere; 3) detto questo potete pensare che mi sto parac**ando in vista dei commenti che fioccheranno.. pensate ciò che volete, ci tenevo solo a fare sta premessa; 4) scrivo la recensione di questo album perchè mi è parso di vedere che non sia stata spesa una sillaba a riguardo... tanto meglio! Tento questa maratona...
Non voglio strafare, lo giuro. Comincerò dicendo che si, lo so, pare un surrogato di Avril Lavigne. Ma appare chiaro che Alexz Johnson non voglia affatto diventare una 'copia/sosia/predico bene razzolo male' poichè, sin dalla prima puntata di Instant Star, il personaggio da lei interpretato (Jude Harrison) riceve come insulto quello di scrivere canzoni all' Avril Lavigne. Un netto distacco dunque segnato da lei stessa (o dai registi..?!). Fatto sta che Alexz Johnson ha uno stile che richiama l'artista canadese (stile musicale, s'intende).
La colonna sonora incisa per questa serie televisiva non per questo vale meno di un qualunque altro album: canzoni pop/rock melodico possono pervadere tranquillamente l'animo di un qualunque fan del genere. Ad una 24 hours tutta adolescenza e noia si alterna una Temporary Insanity con la sua musica da 'm'ama non m'ama'. Ad una Let me fall, richiesta umile e sentita di comprensione al sesso opposto (I'm only human and I've got something to say), si oppone in senso stretto una Skin (acustica e superba) triste e rabbiosa contro le bugie e i rapporti da non dare troppo per scontato (What used to be yours isn't yours at all ). Purtroppo non mancano canzoni, forse da definirsi banalotte, come I'm in love with my guitar dove tutto ciò che ci trovi di buono è il concetto di essere innamorati della propria chitarra (IT ROCKS!) e Pick Up The Pieces che fa tanto jingle del panettone Bauli. Tipico tema 'non cambierai mai quello che sono, scordatelo!' fuoriesce a tutta forza da Me out of me, forse il pezzo più rockeggiante dell'album (Alexz non ambisce a creare nessun 'mostro rock' pur mostrando chiaramente una simpatia per il genere... smanettare con una Telecaster è un gesto che parla chiaro!!). Tutto si conclude con That Girl, semplice e onesta dichiarazione per la serie 'so quanto valgo e te lo dico in tutta tranquillità' (In that cigarette you breathe you can't get rid of me) e con una buona cover di Stupid Girl dei Garbage (niente da dire a riguardo anzi, da apprezzare l'enfasi con cui è cantato il pre-chorus).
Per concludere credo che gli amanti del genere citato possano darci un 'orecchio'. Poi è chiaro, potrebbe piacervi o meno ma, tenendo presente che la massa conosce forse la serie televisiva e dunque Alexz Johnson in quanto attrice protagonista, non potrete venire a dire che non è da apprezzare una giovane ragazza che si compone canzoni abbastanza sui generis. Tali perchè poi andranno inserite in un telefilm guardato da pochi adolescenti che si avvicinano al genere. Insomma una colonna sonora di tutto rispetto considerando che viene propinata in tv ad una fascia oraria per marmocchi!!
