Questa recensione nasce da quella che ho letto del precedente album di Belinda.
Questo lavoro datato 1989 è il terzo dell'artista ed arriva ad 1 anno e mezzo dal grande successo di "heaven on earth" (7 milioni di copie nel mondo). Il disco forse nel suo insieme è piu' bello del precedente .
"Heaven on earth" era infatti un disco di pop leggero caratterizzato dalla presenza di 4 brani molto buoni (3 dei quali singoli) ed una manciata di canzoni senza infamia e senza lode. "Runaway horses" invece è un disco buono totalmente, ma un po troppo studiato.
I brani sono infatti legati da un filo comune, ovvero, creati con base di chitarra (al posto delle tastiere), molti archi e regalizzare gli arrangiamenti, impasto vocale corale e possente.
Il ripetersi di queste caratteristiche lungo 9 delle 10 tracce (tranne l'ultima) fa si che il lavoro perda capacita' di sorprendere ascolto dopo ascolto. Tuttavia, gli arrangiamenti sono molto curati, le collaborazioni illusti (George Harrison alle chitarre nel primo singolo "leave a light on" e "deep deep ocean", Bryan Adams ai cori in "Whatever it takes", forse il pezzo migliore del disco) e la voce di Belinda calda, e sensuale come mai.
Dall'album sono stati estratti ben 6 singoli, che sono stati successi europei di gran rispetto (2 top ten hits e 4 top 40 hits) tutti accompagnati da video belli e curati. Risultato 5 milioni di copie vendute nel mondo. Belinda non è stata una meteora, come ha scritto chi mi ha preceduto in una sua recensione. In tutti gli anni 90 ha pubblicato altri 3 album e 2 raccolte, la prima delle quali ha raggiunto il numero 1 persino nella ostica Inghilterra. Ancora oggi ci sono molti siti sull'artista, che oltretutto nel corso dell'anno pubblichera' ben 2 album, uno di remix a luglio ed uno di inediti a settembre.
Insomma.... sicuramente da rivalutare.
