Una pietra miliare nella musica in generale, creata nel 1986. Un capolavoro assoluto, ideato da due geni delle sei corde, quali Jason Becker e Marty Friedman. Semplicemente SENSAZIONALE!
Con questo e tantissimi altri svariati aggettivi, possiamo definire "Speed Metal Symphony". Un'opera disegnata sulle sei corde, con virtuosismi fantastici!
La tecnica superba dei due, rende il disco pieno zeppo di melodia, velocità, fantasia e tecnica. Una tecnica assurda, che in quegli anni travolge completamente il mondo musicale.
A soli 18 anni Becker si fa conoscere al mondo intero con un album che unisce metal e fantasia! Le chitarre regnano sovrane su tutto il disco, esaltando la genialità ed il superbo talento della coppia Friedman/Becker. Una delle più grandi coppie di chitarristi mai esistita.
Dopo 17 anni dall'uscita dell'album, nessuno è riuscito a fare quello che hanno fatto loro: condividere il virtuosismo melodico con un genere estremo come quello heavy-speed metal. I due maghi delle sei corde, mettono in mostra in questo lavoro tutta la loro classe, soprattutto negli arrangiamenti, scambiandosi melodie e assoli incredibili!
Nelle melodie Marty e Jason sembrano dialogare, impegnandosi in una "staffetta" musicale: da una parte lo stile neoclassico di Becker, dall'altro quello metal classico di Friedman.
La velocità, la rabbia, la potenza ed il gusto chitarristico tipico dell'heavy metal, sono racchiuse in questo gioiello musicale! Canzoni come le strumentali "Concerto" e la title-track, o la meravigliosa "Where My Fortune Lies" sono capolavori irripetibili!
Ma sarebbe un infamia, nominare solo questi pezzi. TUTTO il cd è fantastico. I veri patiti della chitarra godranno dopo averlo ascoltato (chi non lo ha fatto fino ad ora si appresti a farlo immediatamente!!).
Lasciate perdere se la voce di Peter Marino è una vera schifezza (che Dio ce ne liberi...). O'Shea e Anur, rispettivamente, basso e batteria, riescono a star dietro ai funambolici chitarristi abbastanza bene dando quel pizzico di potenza in più.
Il disco deve essere ascoltato ESCLUSIVAMENTE per le fantastiche esecuzioni di chitarra, che non devono lasciar scampo a nessun altro suono! Due uomini, due musicisti, due geni. Becker, che dopo essere stato colpito dal morbo di Lou Gehrig, continua a scrivere musica da una sedia a rotelle, e Friedman, che ci ha regalato tantissime emozioni con i Megadeth e continua a farlo da solista. Estremamente imperdibile.
