Il Brightoniano Fatboy Slim, con questo brano, stringe la mano alla consacrazione mondiale.
Nel 1998, il disco "You've Come A Long Way, Baby" sfornò diversi singoli considerabili "hit" ma questo è senza ombra di dubbio IL singolo per eccellenza del DJ: coloro che si sono avvicinati al suo repertorio sono sicuramente passati per "The Rockafeller Skank" prima, inevitabile.
Impossibile anche non averla mai ascoltata o sentita 'di passaggio', vista la sua perenne presenza in svariati film e giochi, primo fra tutti il mitico FIFA '99 (gioco dalla soundtrack memorabile).
Come gli Underworld e i Chemical Brothers, seppe incuriosire anche i non avvezzi alla musica Elettronica in generale. Una cosa per nulla semplice.
Una traccia Big Beat perfetta con il suo connubio di quel sovracitato sample vocale (estrapolato da un brano del rapper Lord Finesse) e quel groove chitarristico eccezionalmente Surf, che nella seconda parte si contorce in un bad trip tra effetti Scat e rallenty oscuri.
All'interno del singolo troviamo poi altre due tracce davvero niente male: "Always Read The Label" con quei suoi bassi profondi pseudo-Dub e i campionamenti dei Public Enemy e un simpatico messicano (?) che ogni tanto ripete "La vida de la sorpresa", e la godibilissima e sottovalutata "Tweakers Delight", spietatamente Rave che ti fa rimanere troppo male quando vedi che dura solo 3 minuti e vorresti che durasse almeno il triplo dell'attuale durata.
Dateci dentro, qualunque sia il vostro sound preferito.
