Molti non conosceranno i 'Freedom Call' band power metal tedesca che nel 1999 diede alla luce "Stairway to Fairyland" album che servì per lanciare poi ottimi dischi come "Eternity" ed "Crystal empire" (troppo commerciale "The circle of life").
Ma ora passiamo ad analizzare le traccie. Il disco si apre con "OVER THE RAINBOW" una delle migliori canzoni dell'album, vero e proprio inno fantasy. L'album procede con "TEARS FALLING" brano senza infamia e senza lode. Si prosegue con "FAIRYLAND" ed "SHINE ON" che fanno da preludio ad "WE ARE ONE" migliore canzone dell'album supportata da un'ottima parte ritmica di Zimmermann.
Poi arrivano "HYMN TO THE BRAVE" ed "TEARS OF TARAGON", quest'ultima ha ispirato in seguito il mini-cd "Taragon". Infine arrivano "GRACELAND", "HOLY KNIGHT", "ANOTHER DAY" ed "KINGDOM COME" ottimo brano che chiude in bellezza quest'album.
I 'Freedom Call' in Italia non hanno un grande successo ma nelle altre regioni d'Europa stanno raggiungendo grande popolarità. Spero di aver invogliato qualche metallaro ad ascoltare questo disco che essendo il loro primo disco non si può definire capolavoro. Comunque un ottimo disco a tinte fantasy e c'è da fare i complimenti al batterista Dan Zimmermann ex 'Gamma Ray'.
