"Every Man For Himself" è l'ultimo lavoro degli Hoobastank, che non appagati del successo mondiale ottenuto con i due lavori precedenti "Hoobastank" e soprattutto "The Reason", provano a conquistare le "chart" del pianeta una terza volta.
Questo loro terzo lavoro è una sintesi dei loro dischi precedenti. Così ancora una volta non mancano i bei "lentazzi", che tentano di bissare il successo ottenuto con "The Reason", alternati ad altrettante tracce veloci. Le ballate questa volta non sono più insopportabili mattoni come in "The Reason", ma anzi hanno anch'esse i loro momenti di aggressività, il che contribuisce non poco alla scorrevolezza del disco. Non ci sono canzoni particolarmente brutte, noiose, pesanti o quello che volete voi, quindi è raro premere il tasto skip durante l'ascolto.
Al contrario non mancano canzoni che spiccano rispetto alle altre, come il singolo "Inside Of You" dal riff di chitarra che si stampa in testa al primo ascolto, oppure le aggressive "Without A Fight" e "Finally Awake" che sembrano uscite direttamente dal self-titled. Tuttavia c'è un'ombra che mina pesantemente il voto finale: purtroppo rispetto agli altri dischi la qualità delle canzoni che dovrebbero trainare l'album è nettamente diminuita: "Without A Fight" e "Finally Awake" sono belle cariche, per carità, ma non c'è traccia in questo disco in grado di fare le veci di una "Crawling In The Dark".
Insomma, il loro meglio gli Hoobastank lo hanno dato altrove.
