Attore e regista statunitense, nato a New York nel 1943, due volte premio Oscar (Il padrino - parte II; Toro scatenato). Celebre per le collaborazioni con Martin Scorsese e ruoli iconici in Taxi Driver, Toro scatenato, Quei bravi ragazzi e C'era una volta in America. Alla regia ha firmato Bronx (1993) e The Good Shepherd (2006).
