Le uniche indicazioni sono il nome della band, i titoli dei sei pezzi di questo terzo ep, il titolo dello stesso e la scritta: "lovingly recorded in a bedroom". Il nome dell'etichetta Artistdirect, una specie di vitaminic americana, ma che fa uscire ora cd "veri".
Mellowdrone è Jonathan Bates. "Tiny Little" è la breve traccia strumentale di apertura, costruita su drones, frasi ripetute, da qui il nome della band. Fra lo sperimentale ed il facile ascolto, sempre geniale. "Fashionably Uninvited" esplode sulle basi elettroniche con chitarre degne dei passaggi arrabbiati del Cornelius di Fantasma. Elettronica e chitarre. E nel chorus la voce si arrampica altissima in falsetto. Batterie elettroniche stordite. In "And Repeat" sembra di sentire pure la voce di Trent Reznor. Si riconosce pure la sua genialità e istinto in questo prodotto registrato in una stanza da letto.
Le parti di chitarra sono però piú suonate, fluide.
"No More Options" è la nostra preferita, un sinth pop con inserimenti di bending della chitarra, il weah di "Teen Spirit" per intenderci. E la batteria che per un po' impazzisce e ti fa saltare, tutto controtempo. Imperdibile. E scaricabile pure interamente, zippato, dal sito dell’artista. Gratis. Andate subito.
Quest'anno uscirà pure la prima prova sulla lunga distanza. E spaccherà tutto. La cosa più fresca mai sentita da un sacco di tempo.
