Ce ne erano molte di band che hanno tentato di mischiare funk, bordate noise e voci industrial noir (tipo i primi Hunters and collectors). Nessuno però è arrivato al livello dei The The. Matt Johnson ha una voce così figa che avrebbe potuto fare un disco con i Clock DVA o con i Pop Group...sarebbe stato eccitante.
