"Cross the Styx" del 1992 è il primo album di uno dei più importanti gruppi death metal olandesi insieme ad Altar, Callenish Circle, God Dethroned, Pestilence, Prostitute Disfigurement e Severe Torture.
Quest'album è molto influenzato da gruppi come Cannibal Corpse, primi Death, Deicide e in certi riff dagli Obituary. L'album è senza tregua e naviga tra death metal e brutal death. L'intro e l'outro danno delle leggeri passaggi strumentali goticheggianti. Il growl molto marcio e cavernoso come la parte ritmica rende ancora più distruttivo quest'album che è uno dei monoliti del death metal, la produzione non dà giustizia a questo semi-capolavoro rendendo minore il muro sonoro distruttivo della band.
Da sempre quest'album è uno dei più sottovalutati del death. Comunque consiglio l'acquisto a tutti gli amanti del vecchio sano death metal senza alcun compromesso, lava incadescente per quasi 40 minuti. Per i 10 anni del cd la Nuclear Blast ha ristampato il cd col secondo, Diabolical Summoning.

『Cross the Styx』è il primo album del 1992 della band death metal olandese Sinister, forte influenze da Cannibal Corpse e Deicide. L'album è caratterizzato da una brutalità sonora intensa con passaggi gotici che ne arricchiscono la struttura. Nonostante la produzione non sia delle migliori, il disco è considerato un monolite sottovalutato del death metal. Consigliato agli appassionati del death metal old school senza compromessi. Sinister è una band death metal olandese formata nel 1988. Ha definito parte dell'identità del death europeo con album come Cross the Styx, Diabolical Summoning e Hate.
