Uscito il giorno di San Valentino del 1994, Stay Together é considerato l'ultimo singolo che vede infatti la partecipazione del chitarrista.
La perdita del padre e le continue liti con la band rappresentano il motivo della cupezza generale percepibile.
Sarà questo il motivo che spingerà Brett a rinnegare e detestare la canzone in questione, affermando che nonostante l'attesa e l'isteria per il nuovo singolo da parte dei fan, il prodotto finale non lo convinceva.
Un intro di chitarra effettata da chorus e di piano memorabile seguito da una dedica amorosa contraddistinta dal solito velo apocalittico e dalla verve made in Anderson.
Si, perché l'anima Suede é anche Brett e da li a poco lo sarà per i successivi decenni.
Il frontman infatti dotato di una potente carica sensuale e velenosa allo stesso tempo, scrive un testo sulla dipendenza da eroina che affonda la relazione di una coppia.
Bernard per niente entusiasta considerava The Living Dead soltanto uno squallido pezzo non degno di essere accompagnato dalla sua chitarra.
My Dark Star presenta secondo me una delle più belle melodie mai composte dal gruppo, che dipinge sullo sfondo dei palazzi inglesi narrati le promesse di ascesa da parte della ragazza indiana protagonista.
Tra Suede e Dog Man Star,
tra bellezza e squallore.
Da riscoprire e (ri)valutare.
