Con questa nuova uscita i SFA fanno giungere a compimento un processo iniziato anni fa e si candidano come una delle band più in forma del momento. Se le due prove precedenti, pur tra lampi di genio, avevano fatto storcere la bocca a molti, questo Love Kraft dovrebbe mettere le cose a posto. Ciò che colpisce sin dai primi ascolti è la compattezza dell'opera: la sua organicità. Il tutto si presenta con un senso delle proporzioni e delle armonie interne davvero notevole. Per fortuna ciò non va a detrimento delle singoli composizioni che anzi emergono piano piano nella loro luminosa individualità.
A partire dal primo brano "Zoom!" davvero sorprendente: una cavalcata neo-psichedelica la cui atmosfera oblunga e indolente si dilata fino a divenire a poco a poco epica. I SFA sono l'unica band che può permettersi il lusso di utilizzare un coro catalano impunemente! Eppure tutto funziona alla perfezione come una macchina ben oliata da anni di esperienza e creatività. Provare per credere.
Segue "Atomik Lust" che ribadisce l'atmosfera prevalente del disco: una sorta di chiaroveggenza drogata, di stupore onirico, come una realtà percepita con sensi rallentati ma potenti, più ricca, colorata e vivace, ma nello stesso tempo pacificata, dilatata.
A rompere questa atomosfera ecco il primo brano incalzante: del resto si tratta di una rottura solo apparente. L'omaggio ai Beach Boys di "The Horn" è talmente citazionistico e smodato che non si tratta di una mera canzone alla Beach Boys ma dei Super Furry Animals che giocano a fare i Beach Boys. Non si esce dal loro mondo. Anzi, "Ohio Heat" riprende la formula inventata ad hoc per Love Kraft e che potrebbe riassumersi in una unione del formato ballad con lo scazzo psichedelico, il tutto armonizzato dalla capacità di produrre il disco nel modo più adeguato creando una sonorità calda e accogliente. Il resto del disco prosegue su livelli altissimi ora tornando a cullare ("Walk You Home") ora a giocare con le influenze e la storia della musica ("Back On a Roll"). A chiudere ottimamente bastano due brani come "Cloudberries" e "Cabin Fever", altri due brani dolci e avvolgenti come le spire di un suadente serpente.
Se c'è giustizia i SFA avranno finalmente una loro audience anche in Italia. Quindi mi sa di no.
