Perché comprare questo disco, visto che i Beatles li conosciamo già a memoria?
- . . . perché è quel gruppo degli anni '60 in cui suonavano insieme John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison e Ringo Starr;
- . . . perché i pezzi rimasterizzati hanno un suono DELLA MADONNA , l'intro di "I Am The Walrus" è un film per le orecchie (per dirla con Zappa), mentre la meravigliosa ma allo stesso tempo raffinata armonia a tre voci di "Because" ricorda i Beatles. Cazzo, ma SONO i Beatles!
- . . . perché è una suite unica di 78 minuti (i più giovani faranno finta di addormentarsi, ma poi lo ascolteranno di nascosto);
- . . . perché mentre lo ascolti non fai più caso al fatto che questa nuova finanziaria è abbastanza pesante;
- . . . perché c'è "Something", "il mio pezzo preferito di Lennon-McCartney", come disse una volta Frank Sinatra dal vivo. (in realtà il pezzo è di Harrison, ma del resto cantanti non si nasce, si natra).
- . . . perché l'assolo di "The End" di Ringo Starr si sente in stereo, con gli assoli di chitarra che partono sui due canali per dissolversi nell'accordo iniziale di "A Hard Day's Night", mentre parte il groove americano di "Get Back";
- . . . perché son canzoni che spaccano ancora oggi e che portano brividi lungo la spina dorsale a tutti quelli che hanno amato per anni i vinili originali o le cassette registrate dai cd noleggiati quando c'erano ancora i noleggiatori. Mi ricordo, uno qui a Roma era vicino a un cornettaro che faceva i cornetti a 500 lire, poi l'hanno chiuso. (Il noleggiatore, non il cornettaro);
- . . . perché sono il gruppo più giustamente valutato del mondo, persino Hegel e i suoi operatori della cultura non potrebbero pensare diversamente;
- . . . perché il figlio di George Martin che è uno dei curatori dell'operazione era uno dei Kula Shaker;
- . . . perché non va ad inficiare in alcun modo la discografia precedente e ufficiale, anzi la sublima e la innalza ad opera d'arte assoluta;
- . . . perché sono la presentazione dei remasters del back catalogue che usciranno l'anno prossimo, e se il suono è così cristallino. . . tutti con le cambiali in mano!
- . . . perchè il finale di "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" non ha mai suonato così metal;
- . . . perché c'è "Here Comes The Sun";
- . . . perché c'è la melodia indiana di "Within You Without You" cantata sopra il basso e batteria di "Tomorrow Never Knows". (how does it feel to be a copione, Chemical Noel?)
- . . . perchè Ringo era il più simpatico di tutti, e non così un pessimo batterista. Cazzo, tra quarant'anni che diremo di Jonas Wanigen allora?
- . . . perché "Gnik Nus" non è un progetto parallelo dei Gnarls Barkley, ma "Sun King" al contrario;
- . . . perché c'è "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in una versione acustica-demo con gli archi che pare abbia fatto sussultare per la commozione la vedova di Harrison;
- . . . perché c'è "Strawberry Fields Forever" che si risolve in un tripudio di citazioni, dal clavicembalo di "Piggies" all'assolo varisppedato di "Penny Lane", dalle vocine di "Hello Goodbye" agli allegri e barzotti fiati di "Sgt. Peppers";
- . . . perché c'è "Sgt. Peppers reprise", il pezzo preferito del mio amico Jollyman;
- . . . perché l'assolo di "Taxman" l'ha suonato McCartney (qui inserito in un audace mix di "Drive My Car" , "What You're Doing" e "The Word";
- . . . perché la batteria di "Back in the USSR" la suonò McCartney dopo un litigio con Starr;
- . . . perchè "Hey Jude" l'ha scritta McCartney (qui in una versione quasi "gospel" con finale rinnovato);
- . . . perché "Come Together" è "Come Together", e John Lennon era uno che di talento ne aveva da vendere;
- . . . perché la chitarra distorta che apre "Revolution" fà sembrare i Don Caballero la backing band di Den Harrow;
- . . . perché spigne, E BASTA!
Insomma, non comprare questo disco vi fà qualificare automaticamente come IDIOTI.
