Ciao a tutti. Questa è la mia prima deRECENSIONE che faccio in vita mia. Stavo visitando questo carinissimo sito, quando faccio una ricerca fra i titoli. . . e vedo che non esiste manco una recensione su "Surrender" dei Chemical Brothers! A quel punto mi sono chiesto: "ma com è possibile? Beh allora se nessuno l'ha mai scritta, ci penso io!". E così eccomi qua.
"Surrender", Anno 1999. Se i due fratellini chimici si erano già fatti sentire con quei due gran album che sono "Exit Planet Dust" e sua maesta "Dig Your Own Hole", con questo album si sono fatti conoscere in tutto il globo. È appunto con quest'album che vengono innalzati a "superstar djs..." di fama mondiale. Si parte con la prima canzone dal titolo "Music: Response" . Una canzone puramente elettronica. Ne di più ne di meno. Ma è quando sta appunto per terminare la prima song che una persona non si aspetta di salire su un treno di pura energia adrenalinica. Seconda canzone. "Under The Influence". Se avete un buon stereo sia in casa che in macchina, questa canzone è un buon mezzo per testare il vostro impianto. Il suono iniziale della canzone che ricorda molto un areoplano che ti passa sopra la testa a bassa quota, tutto impacchettato con un basso pulsante fanno di questa canzone una delle migliori dell'album. Al che una persona normale può pensare... "ma l'album non può essere tutto così!". Non si fa manco in tempo a finire la frase che parte "Out Of Control" con quel ripresino iniziale seguito da una pulsazione che può solo preannunciare qualcosa di buono! E subito dopo sei già li a ballare per la casa e a canticchiare la song... out of control...
Per citare le canzoni più significative e più famose (non che le altre sia affatto da meno), da ricordare la ormai famosissima "Let Forever Be" in collaborazione con Liam degli Oasis il quale offre la sua voce per la canzone... Che dire di questa canzone. Anche se commerciale, ha dei suoni da una parte nitidi con iniezioni elettroniche e suoni distorti. Ma poi Ed e Tom hanno pensato bene di far anche tirare un po il fiato al povero ascoltatore... regalandoci due canzoni rilassantissime come "The Sunshine Underground" e "Asleep From Day". Con il finire dell'album e sulle note di "Asleep From Day"... quasi come una ninna nanna... che ti stai quasi per addormentare... voilà che si risale sul treno elettro... con "Got Glint?" con quel suo basso incantante... E poi lei. Che parte basso.

HERE WE GO!... e se a questo punto sei ancora a sedere e non stai ballando per casa... non so cosa ti possa smuovere... "Hey Boy Hey Girl". Canzone apri pista usata abusivamente da tutti i dj del globo. La canzone che LI HA resi famosi in tutto il globo. Qualcosa di più carico e adrenalico che fin al 1999 non si era ancora sentito... E l'album si chiude con altre due canzoni che sono due capolavori, fra cui "Dream On".
Che dire. Io spero di essere riuscito a descrivere la sensazione che ho provato e provo tutt'ora quando ascolto sto cd. Signori. Questo è Surrender.
