Bissare il milione e mezzo di copie dell'esordio "Twelve Stops And Home" è una bella responsabilità per i Feeling. I cinque provenienti dal Sussex (Dan Gillespie Sells, Richard Jones, Kevin e Ciaran Jeremiah, Paul Stewart) ci riprovano con l'opera seconda "Join With Us", pubblicata sempre su Island/Universal.
Il disco arriva a meno di due anni dal fortunato esordio, e sostanzialmente ribadisce il tipico sound soft-rock proposto dalla band, senza disdegnare qualche inaspettata sortita qua e là scorrendo la tracklist.
C'è da precisare subito che l'influenza di Queen ed Electric Light Orchestra è molto meno evidente rispetto all'esordio. Qua si inizia subito con un bel numero come il primo estratto "I Thought It Was Over", frizzante elettropop piuttosto insolito rispetto a quanto ci aveva fatto sentire la band nell'opera prima. Prudentemente, i cinque rimettono i piedi a terra con il papabile secondo singolo "Without You", con eleganti chitarre ed un delicato pianoforte ad accompagnare la voce sempre discreta del bravo Dan. Da non perdere assolutamente la titletrack, certamente la loro miglior canzone sino ad oggi, che parte da un vitale ed orecchiabile pop rock (strettamente paragonabile alla loro vecchia hit "Fill My Little World") per finire in un crescendo sempre più hard e deciso, tra incisivi riffs di chitarra ed un notevole ed azzeccato assolo. I pezzi più easy-pop del disco, cose come "Turn It Up" e "Won't Go Away" (in quest'ultima spunta persino una tromba), suonano a volte vagamente stereotipati, ma è innegabile il mantenimento di un'invidiabile fruibilità e freschezza di fondo.
Nella parte finale, purtroppo, il lavoro si perde un po' tra richiami (troppo) marcati ai Travis ("Conor") e ballate eccessivamente melense ("This Time"). Notevole e divertente, invece, la ghost track "We Can Dance".
Insomma, lavoro piacevole e scorrevole questo dei Feeling, che non rimarrà negli annali ma si lascia ascoltare con piacere.
