Il secondo disco americano degli Stones, come era usuale all'epoca raccoglie brani provenienti dalle più diverse fonti. Abbiamo pezzi del loro secondo mitico ep inglese, singoli, e brani che poi andranno a completare "Rolling Stones N. 2" il loro secondo album inglese. Per la maggior parte sono cover, la fabbrica di hits e riff di Jagger e Richard era ancora in rodaggio ma già qui ci deliziano con alcuni gioellini.
Si parte con "Around and Around" di Berry, è impressionante come un gruppo ancora giovane e diciamo inesperto manifesti una tale maturità e freschezza nell'eseguire questo rock & roll trascinate. Alla chitarra solista come quasi sempre c'è Keith Richard, Sempre tratto del secondo Ep inglese abbiamo "Confessin the blues" genere di cui i Stones sono sempre stati maestri , nonché "If you need me" dell'immenso Solomon Burke. Sempre in quel disco erano presenti tra i primi esempi di pezzi orginali ancora firmati da Jagger e Richard con pseudonimi e vale a dire: "Empty Heart" un beat per la voce sporca di Jagger e soprattutto "2120 South Michigan Avenue" uno strumentale con amonica di Brian Jones e svisate di Richard. Per concludere possiamo ascoltare in questo ottimo disco la cover dei Drifters "Under the boardwalk" già all'epoca famosissima, un altro originale "Grown up wrong" e "Susie Q" con la ritmica sincopata di Watts e Wyman.
Ma i due pezzi che fanno veramente grande questo album sono "It's all over now" di B. Womack e l'ennesima cover , ormai fatta loro di "Time is on my side" che soprattutto oggi è diventata una sigla per i Glimmer Twins.
Nel primo abbiamo il primo assolo di Richard veramente incendiario, questo brano fece veramente conoscere gli Stones a tutto il mondo, la seconda canzone invece (ne esiste un'altra versione) è impreziosità dall'organo elettrico, e dal'esecuzione inspirata di Jagger.
P. S. Il titolo era il numero delle canzoni contenute per il numero dei componenti del gruppo
