Dopo averli seguiti come band di supporto per gli Oasis il 21 Giugno 2002 a Nonantola e dopo aver sentito le parole di elogio spese per loro da Noel Gallagher, non si può far altro che procurarsi Behind The Music (il disco apprezzato in quel live), e dal momento in cui si ascolta quel disco, l'attesa per il lavoro che seguirà è assicurata. Questo momento finalmente è arrivato e Origin Vol.1 non ha deluso affatto le aspettative che quel bel disco di semplicissimo rock'n'roll aveva fatto porre.
La base, la struttura, le melodie sono pressoché le stesse dei lavori precedenti del sestetto svedese. Nulla più, nulla meno. Puro rock targato '60-'70, con atmosfere tanto intriganti quanto coinvolgenti.
"Believe I'Ve Found", che apre l'album, ha un bellissimo giro blues che la caratterizza e si distacca leggermente dal resto del disco. "Transcendental Suicide", della durata di poco più di 6 minuti, ci riporta (e non poco) al sound ed alle atmosfere indie-rock che avevano caratterizzato "Infra Riot", forse il miglior brano contenuto in Behind The Music. Puro e semplice rock basato su un impianto chitarristico veloce, distorto ma per nulla fastidioso. Il brano è poi completato da un basso molto elegante e potente allo stesso tempo, che rende il tutto amalgamato alla perfezione.
Il tris "Bigtime"-"Heading For A Breakdown"-"Mother One Track Mind" accelera notevolmente i ritmi del disco, sfociando in un rock graffiante che mette in evidenza le notevoli doti del batterista Fredrik Sandsten. CI pensa poi "Midnight Children" a spezzare i ritmi del lavoro, essendo una ballata d'impatto, col basso e i cori che la rendono semplicemente meravigliosa. Già dalla successiva "Lone Summer Dream" si torna ad un ritmo più tirato.
Come si nota comunque in special modo in questa canzone e come già detto in precedenza, ci sono brani in questo disco che non aggiungono nulla, che non hanno in sè alcuna invenzione geniale che facciano gridare al miracolo.
Forse come i conterranei The Hives hanno la loro vera forza nell'esibizione live, ma con caratteristiche e tecnica differenti. Infatti nel sound dei TheSoundtrackOfOurLives non si trova assolutamente grezzo garage-rock o banalissimo rock'n'roll-clone-anni-'70, ma un rock un po' alternativo che non farà assolutamente storcere il naso ai puristi e amanti del rock che fu protagonista nel decennio '60-'70.
