Hook Me Up è il secondo album del duo The Veronicas. Le gemelle Jessica e Lisa Origliasso hanno deciso di fare un cambiamento stilistico in confronto al precedente album, passando dal pop-rock all'electro-pop con synth che ricordano quelli degli anni '80.
L'album comincia subito con una canzone molto energica: "Untouched", una bella fusione tra chitarre e tastiere, diventato infatti il primo singolo pubblicato prima in Australia, successivamente in America e molto più tardi in Europa.
La traccia n° 2 dell'album ha il nome omonimo "Hook Me Up", altra canzone coinvolgente che ha i synth in primo piano che creano un motivetto molto orecchiabile e quindi è diventato automaticamente un singolodi successo tanto in Australia quanto in America.
L'album contiene canzoni romantiche inneggianti all'amore, la più orecchiabile "This Love" o la strappalacrime "In Another Life", ma anche canzoni dedicate a un amore finito, come "This Is How It Feels", o una più calma "I Can't Stay Away", oppure "I Don't Wanna Wait", oppure "Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were)" che ha un bell'intro di chitarra.
Ci sono anche delle belle canzoni da ballare come "Take Me On The Floor", che parla anche della bisessualità di Jessica, oppure Popular, canzone che ce l'ha contro le star di Hollywood (canzone ricollegabile alla B-Side chiamata appunto "Hollywood").
Le uniche canzoni che riprendono lo stile del precedente album sono "All I Have" e "Goodbye To You", canzoni dove le chitarre sono le padrone della scena.
Secondo la mia opinione questo è un buon album perché dopo l'uscita di "Hook Me Up" anche altri artisti del genere hanno seguito questo stile che le Veronicas hanno cominciato da ormai 2 anni e che sembra essere la chiave vincente per vendere molti dischi.
