I "Vacuum" sono un gruppo svedese formatosi nel non vicinissimo 1996. I loro genere musicale è un elettronica sinfonica molto vicina alle ambientazioni del periodo '80. I loro pezzi sono molto accessibili (non per questo definibili commerciali nel senso negativo del termine) è nella maggiornaza dei casi sono abbinabili al modo di cantare pop.
"Seance at the Chaebol" è il loro secondo lavoro. Questo album è stato registrato in studio nel 1996 e contiene canzoni che al loro tempo furono anche delle hit radiofoniche:
- L'album incomincia alla grande con "Tonnes of Attraction" una canzone trascinante accompagnata dalla bella voce di Mattias Lindblom che in questo album canta in tutte le tracce.
- La 2° traccia "Power" è una delle migliori, base elettronica leggera molto synth/pop, cori femminili alla ERA. Tutto comunque molto accessibile e piacevole.
- Le tracce dalla "3°" alla "5°" sono forse leggermente inferiori ma la media di questo album, a mio parere, è molto alta.
- La 6° traccia "Satyricon" è accompagnata da violoncelli e violini e altri elementi da orchestra, il tutto in un mix giusto.
- L' 8° traccia è uno dei successi radiofonici del periodo "The Culture of Night" che è stata ripresa da diversi Dj in versioni più pesanti e alternative. Una bella canzone con sezione ritmica non datata.
- Le ultime quattro tracce sono molto belle sempre fedeli allo stile "Vacuum" uno stile che fin dalle prime canzoni riuscirete a comprendere. Forse l'unica canzone dell'album che mi risulta molto inferiore alle altre è "Big Ideas Grand Vision" ma credo che in disco di 12 canzoni è davvero un piccolo danno.
In definitiva, consiglio questo album a tutti gli appassionati della musica elettronica e pop degli anni '80. Sarà un album che continuerà ad essere uno dei vostri preferiti per molto tempo ancora.
