Grandi aspettative in merito all'uscita di "aMOTION" ripagate solo in parte nonostante in questo DVD-CD ci sia tutto lo scibile di Billy Howerdel e soci.
In effetti viene difficile rimanere colpiti da un prodotto del genere se come me a distanza di tre anni non riuscite ancora a togliere dal lettore "Thirteenth Step" ed in ogni caso il cofanetto non contiene niente di nuovo, semmai di inedito. Infatti si tratta della raccolta dei loro video, con commenti in sottofondo di Maynard o di Billy a scelta, dalla nascita del gruppo sino agli ultimi due più politici ("Counting Bodies" e "Imagine") estratti da eMOTIVe; grandissimo spazio è dedicato alle divertenti Bikini Bandits che sono le sexy protagoniste del video di "The Outsider", qui in duplice versione edited e non censurata e di quello di "Thinking Of You" nel quale la protagonista nonché capobanda Heather è genialmente proiettata nel futuro della storia nonostante il video sia antecedente.
Una canzone come "Blue" viene proposta in video quattro volte da registi emergenti dei quali uno è il vincitore del Contest che si immagina una romanticissima storia d'amore necrofila con tanto di riesumazione di cadavere; una delle cose più interessanti è la versione live di "The Noose" molto più avvolgente che su disco con Maynard che praticamente non si vede ma si sente alla grande. Tra i Bonus, oltre a ben tre Trailers delle Bikini Bandits , tanto per cambiare, viene proposta un'ottima galleria fotografica e un mini documentario, che solo per quei pochi minuti si vale l'acquisto del DVD, ripreso dagli stessi membri della Band durante i tour di "Mer De Noms" e "Thirteenth Step" con relativi cambi di formazione. Questo video clip Part One è veramente il pezzo forte della raccolta con Maynard in versione Babbo Natale e Clown, Jeordie White e James Iha inseparabili che fanno casino, prove del gruppo, promozioni, dietro le quinte ecc.; talmente traspare il loro divertimento che ti fanno venire voglia di mettere su una band.
Sul Cd 'rEMIXED', che farà la felicità di coloro che amano l'album di remix dei singoli dei Depeche Mode, non c'è molto da dire se non che si tratta semplicemente di nove versioni in chiave elettronica e non dei singoli fatte da alcuni membri della band e altri musicisti come Massive Attack tra cui spicca "The Hollow" cantata e arrangiata da Paz.
Nell'insieme non è un lavoro venuto male, al contrario visto ce si tratta palesemente di un "Best of" un po' particolare potrebbe essere il punto di partenza per chi ancora non conosce la band anche se io vi consiglio vivamente di andare a comprarvi i primi due dischi perchè solo così riuscirete a capire cosa hanno realmente fatto.
