Può qualche lineetta di febbre indurti a scrivere una delirante recensione sui favolosi anni '70? O meglio, su un'opera che ha segnato, nel bene e nel male, molte delle produzioni musicali successive? Può qualche lineetta di febbre indurti a ricordare lo "tsunami  planetario" che ha colpito milioni di giovani e li ha lasciati lì, seduti, shokkati, su una poltroncina di un cinema, per tutti gli spettacoli in programma quella sera?

Ebbene questa non è una risposta che mi spetta, semmai posso dire a personale "discolpa", che mi sono documentata e che sul "sito più fiko che c'è su internet", questa storia non viene raccontata, se non in versione ridotta, relegata all'esclusiva opera musicale del 1970: peraltro quella storia del 2002 non è finita con... e vissero felici e contenti..., ma con parole usate come  mazzate sui denti a chi, con sprezzo del pericolo, ha osato recensire nientepopodimenoche "Jesus Christ Superstar" il disco, per gli amanti del vinile, con quello "scarso" di Ian Gillan... 

L'album, uscito nel 1970, ebbe un enorme successo, tanto che Andrew Lloyd Webber e Tom Rice decisero la trasposizione teatrale, che debuttò a Broadway il 12 dicembre 1971 e l'anno successivo a London, dove rimase in cartellone per otto anni consecutivi. Quindi dal musical fu realizzato un adattamento cinematografico nel 1973 per la regia di Norman Jewison con Ted Neely, Carl Anserson ed  Yvonne Elliman.

Chissà quale storia accattivante, nuova, dal finale inimmaginabile ha deciso di raccontare questo furbone: ma và! Mi dicono che è una storia vecchia di 2000 anni, figuratevi che racconta gli ultimi giorni di vita di Gesù Cristo: nientemeno! Eppure ci deve essere qualcosa che, oltre la storia , sicuramente non originale né nuova, ha attirato un orda di giovani scalmanati e piuttosto dissacranti all'interno di un cinema... per ore, direi che più di qualcuno si è ripresentato al botteghino il giorno dopo, e il giorno dopo ancora, e il giorno dopo ancora...

Evviva, dopo un'accurata indagine ho scoperto il motivo, anzi me lo sono ricordato, perché... I Was There! certo, ma è  lo stile musicale, con  predominanza per  il rock, tanto che il musical viene spesso indicato come una "opera rock" così come era già successo per Tommy degli Who e con una nota personale, ma rigorosamente documentabile, per  il nostro Orfeo9, che debuttò al Teatro Sistina, a Roma il 23 gennaio 1970, dieci mesi prima di Tommy: lo sapevate che Tito Schipa Jr è in assoluto il primo autore al mondo a mettere in scena un' opera rock?

Ma non distraiamoci: Jesus Christ Superstar è probabilmente l'opera rock più famosa dal 1970 ai giorni nostri! La trama è nota, anche se Gesù ci viene presentato sotto il suo profilo più umano (solo nel 1988 rivedremo Gesù nella sua veste umana e non divina, nella bellissima pellicola,  L'ultima tentazione di Cristo,  di Martin Scorsese); Giuda è di colore e diviene la vittima, non il traditore, con un destino che gli piomba addosso come un macigno; Maria Maddalena è la figura femminile rappresentata forse nel modo più classico!

A differenza di altre trasposizioni cinematografiche di musical, JCS è interamente cantato, non esistono parti recitate, tranne che per brevi frasi pronunciate fra un brano e l'altro.

E adesso...  non potete chiedermi di parlarvi anche delle musiche, delle voci, dei cori, dei balletti, delle ambientazioni, della fotografia perché non sono descrivibili in una recensione come questa: il recensore ha la febbre e potrebbe essere non obiettivo, ma ...se proprio insistete...: le voci sono perfette, le musiche ti incidono i microsolchi nell'anima, l'immagine della crocefissione, con tutto il silenzio che segue, ti lascia l'amaro in bocca perché sino all'ultimo hai sperato che il finale fosse diverso e poi, infine,  a molti è sembrato  che su quella croce sia finito tutto il movimento del '68 e questo, per chi c'era, ha fatto sì che quelle musiche, in qualche modo,  rappresentassero la colonna sonora della propria vita!
