Ciao a Tutti gli utenti, sono un nuovo iscritto, e parto subito recensendo un album un pò vecchiotto (2003) che hanno consacrato questo gruppo tra i capostipiti dell'evoluzione di quel genere di cui tutti parlano, e molti nn ne sanno un cazzo da quanto posso leggere in troppe, troppe recensioni... il Nu-Metal....che questi Californiani hanno preso, modificato, scelto le parti migliori... mescolate con giri di chitarra death, spesso accordati in drop-C.
Sto parlando di Metalcore... e loro sono gli "As I Lay Dying"... provenienti da Sandiego in Calfornia.. hanno sfornato un secondo album impressionante, prodotto interamente da Tim Lambesis, cantante e fondatore del gruppo, nonchè grandissimo personaggio dotato di grande carisma scenico come pochi nel 2007 riescono ad avere, ma entriamo nello specifico di questo "Frail Words Collapse".
Si apre l'album con il primo singolo e video estratto... "94hours"... pezzo di una cattiveria fuori dal normale, e ci si accorge immediatamente dell'accordatura in DO dei chitarristi e dell'atmosfera moderna e incazzata.. che si sussegue a sezioni ritmiche di cassa che sembrano incollate sopra col metronomo, senza il minimo errore e senza far avere il tempo di tirare un sospiro di sollievo... che le orecchie piu fragili magari vorrebbero trovare.. ma conclusa lei, ci troviamo di fronte a "Falling Upon Deaf Ears"... e qui il clima diventa davvero ancora piu pesante.. parti in Blast di batteria e soprattutto l'uso dei cadenzati "chiamati ormai in termine internazionale "MOSH".. fanno di questo pezzo una di quelle canzoni con cui uno vuole sbattere la faccia contro al muro da tanta voglia che ha di fare headbanging.. ma passiamo alla 3 della tracklist nonchè singolo portante dell'album..."Forever" che sembra riesumare le melodie di sum41 (still waiting.. il giro è simile.. x cui simile anche a quella di nek.. -.-' )..pezzo penso tra i piu quotati dai fan, ma x me un po rompicoglioni detta come va detta.. xke sembra proprio fatto per dire "cazzo dobbiamo fare un po di roba tranquilla se no la gente si uccide e nn arriva a fine album".. che poi di tranquillo non c'ha un emerita minchia, ma in ogni caso personalmente il parere è questo.. passiamo a "Collision".. anche questo si apre con un bel giro di chitarrone e un mosh da spacca ossa appena parte Tim a cantare.... eccoci alla 5 canzone "Distance is Darkness".. che è un po una perla dell'album.. parti ritmiche semi incabili con tempi dispari e in levare, con molte armonizzazioni d chitarra.. x intenderci un po alla Dillinger Escape Plan.. mezza matta, schizzata.. ma con l'unico melodico vocale a fine pezzo che troverete in questa pietra di cemento ke vi lanciano in faccia questi AILD... i pezzi si susseguono un po sullo stile delle prime tracce descritte, mantenendo quella carica esplosiva che li contraddistingue... e si conclude con "Elegy" personalmente uno dei pezzi piu belli dell'album e soprattutto.. con la parte MOSH più incazzata.
Parlando di suoni obbiettivamente.. la cassa nn può piacere a tutti.. sono stati usati trigger evidenti non solo x lei, ma anke x rullante e fusti.. x cui i suoni li troverete poco caldi e molto finti...(anche se si rifaranno con l'album dopo che recensirò tra breve.. ;) ..ma per un genere con cosi tante frequenze, se la batteria non ha suoni secchi, è inutile farlo perchè non si capirebbe un emerita sega in poche parole.. Le chitarre sono dei trattori e sanno curare molto bene le parti ritmiche di entrambe le parti.. il basso.... beh... in questo album non so se lo sentirete... TIM ha detto che non l'hanno neanche registrato il basso.. anche se nei video post-uscita album c'è un bassista.. per cui se lo dice lui ascoltiamolo e diamogli retta... la voce di Tim appunto.. hehe.. si vede che gli hanno sparata a dei familiari perchè ha una carica che è qualcosa di inusuale per questi gruppi..
Concludendo, un bellissimo Album in uscita su Major... ovvero Metalblade, strutturato bene in ogni sua parte, pensato bene e suonato ancora meglio.. un bel 4 glielo dò alla grande.. alla prosssima,
