Ammetto: la delusione è cocente.
Lo dico subito così mi tolgo il macigno dalla scarpa.
Li ho scoperti per caso con l'ottimo Making Enemies Is Good del 2001, e ne avevo poi verificato la progressione dai passi iniziali reperendo il primo, più grezzo, Total 13.
Ovvio che l'aspettativa per questo nuovo passo fosse elevata, e invece...
...E invece quello che mi ritrovo per le mani è un dischetto nel quale gli autori dimostrano di avere in buona parte smarrito la strada.
Mi spiego.
Un buon disco di Rock'n Roll nel 2004 deve avere due cose fondamentali ben presenti: buone canzoni, e tiro.
Le due componenti devono comparire simultaneamente in ogni composizione - possibilmente - altrimenti, come minimo, non si conduce più una fuga, ma si rientra nel gruppo degli inseguitori.
E questo è quello che capita oggi ai BB.
Il disco parte con l'antemico, e un po' ruffiano, Everybody's Ready.
Poi si perde in brani senza una chiara direzione (One Sound) con ritornelli talvolta anche un po' fastidiosi (A Song For The Outcast), o semplicemente anonimi (Say When, Year By Year, Be Myself And I).
Ovviamente non basta la rimpatriata di Friends, con la partecipazione di amici e colleghi dei nostri tra cui un mai troppo rimpianto Joey Ramone, che è più una curiosità che una canzone, nè l'efficace Pigs For Swine per risollevare le sorti di un lavoro che sa fin troppo di appuntamento mancato.
Che si siano montati la testa? Prova d'appello al prossimo CD.
