All'inizio degli anni 90 si forma un movimento sociale che porta il nome di "Riot grrrl", i massimi esponenti di questo movimento erano per lo più gruppi femminili, tra i quali troviamo: Babes in toyland, L7, Hole, Slant6, Bikini Kill e tanti altri...
Chi mi accingo a recensire oggi sono le Bikini Kill con il loro "Pussy Whipped".
L'album è un continuo tumulto di sonorità punk, che diventa molto sporco grazie alle urla di Kathleen Hanna (basta sentire "Hamster Baby" per capire) i testi si basano molto su argomentazioni di ribellione femminile "Rebel Girl", in toto è una miscela di chitarre sporche, urla e velocità di esecuzione, infatti le canzoni a stento arrivano ai 2 minuti "Magnet".
Quest'album, anzi questo gruppo, lo consiglio a tutti coloro che si ricordano la nascita dei 90s unicamente come l'esplosione del grunge e del nu-metal; quando allora nel loro piccolo c'era la nascita delle Riot grrrl che credevano anche loro in qualcosa e lo urlavano in un microfono.
Un movimento durato poco... ma non per questo va dimenticato.
