I Blutengel sono una realtà sonora nell'ambito electro/gothic da poco meno di una decina d'anni. Guidati dal "carismatico" Chris Pohl e appoggiati da due sensuali fanciulle: Kati e Gini. Ho scelto di recensire Seelenschmerz per due semplici ragioni: la prima è che questo è l'unico album che han fatto che mi ha "letteralmente" lasciato a bocca aperta... la seconda ragione invece, è ancora più semplice della prima: dopo quest'album il "nostro" Chris non ha fatto altro che oscurare è far inorridire i fan che prima erano "fedeli" a questa creatura.
Uscito ufficialmente nel marzo del 2001 dopo un esordio non proprio felice con "Child of Glass" del 1999 (nel 1998 sfortunatamente non vide la luce un progetto di Chris, chiamato Seelenkrank) fu seguito poi da "Angel Dust", (si un bel disco... ma nulla a che vedere con la potenza e ossessiva ritmica di Seelenschmerz) questo disco spacca... è lo fa sul serio!!! mica cazzate!!Certo, oggi come oggi, mettersi li a "difendere" i Blutengel è una pazzia spropositata in quanto il "nostro" Chris Pohl, con l'andare del tempo non ha fatto altro che "imbruttire" tutto ciò che di bello aveva fatto/composto prima: in questo caso appunto Seelenschmerz. Certo, alcuni sosterranno (e mi ci metto in mezzo pure Io) che i Blutengel sono diventati l'ombra di loro stessi o per meglio dire di sé stesso, visto che comunque le redini del gruppo spettano al solo Chris? (infatti la band è costituita da lui e basta) Kati e Gini, si, fanno le coriste, ma più che altro sono parte della "band" in qualita' di fetish/lapdancers che rendono un po' più intrigante lo spettacolo. I Blutengel, per la maggior parte delle persone, sono finti-ridicoli-banali e sessisti... e questo è vero!! Basta guardare un loro concerto (in terramadre, la Germania, sono famosissimi, al Wave Gothic Treffen del 2003 suonarono davanti a ben 10.000 persone e facevano da Headliner al Festival) certo... di gente ne attirano parecchio! Vuoi per le canzoni, vuoi per l'atmosfere pseudo-vampiriche, vuoi soprattutto per il "gothic-fetish-show" messo su dalle due ragazze sopracitate.
In realtà, i Blutengel o meglio Chris, ha proprio stufato con queste sue pose da divo, da Vampiro made in Deutchland e da figaccione che se la tira... perchè è vero! Si nota lontano un miglio che è un narcisista quasi arrogante è tendente a volte al patetico... Ma come poterlo biasimare in fondo? basta guardarsi un'attimo attorno per vedere che non è l'unico "personaggio" a crogiolarsi dietro questa "facciata"... tutto fa parte dello show... e lo spettacolo deve pur sempre continuare!
Ad ogni modo, le track in questo album sono tante e quasi tutte di notevole "spessore". Si parte con l'intro che è già tutto un programma: "Welcome to Suicide" (però?!) intro melodioso che farà da "apripista" alle successive canzoni. Non voglio elencare una per una le song contenute in quest'album sarebbe inutile, ma vi posso dire che lì in mezzo , ci sono dei gioiellini... dei piccoli capolavori che una volta entrati in testa, difficilmente riesci a dimenticare... parlo di "Der Spiegel" - "Run Away" - "Die with You" e "Bloody Pleasure", singolo che fu estratto prima dell'uscita dell'album e che merita a tutti gli effetti il sostantivo aggiudicatogli! Dopo innumerevoli concerti sparsi un po' per tutta Europa i Blutengel hanno potuto farsi apprezzare/disprezzare dall'intero electrogothicsystem sconfinando anche oltreoceano. Lo scorso 31 Ottobre infatti tennero dei concerti negli Stati Uniti ed in Messico dove riscossero un notevole successo. in definitiva tutta la mia lode va all'album, a questo disco... non al fautore che nel corso degli anni ha ridicolizzato la propria creatura sino a renderla grottesca. Ma è di questo che stiamo parlando: di Seelenschmerz un capolavoro bastardo, tagliente e flesciante!!! Un piccolo umile consiglio che mi permetto di offrirvi: fate in modo di poter avere quest'album... una volta ottenuto prendete la track "Run Away" e sparatevela in vena a tutto volume!!!!! Chissà che ne uscirà fuori...
