Nel tour successivo al fortunato album "Accident of Birth", Bruce registra questo live: si tratta di un concerto tenutosi a San Paulo, una delle mete preferite del cantante inglese. Come nell'album, è accompagnato dalla line-up che vede alle chitarre Adrian Smith (ex-Maiden) e Roy Z, al basso Andy Casillas e alla batteria Dave Ingraham.
Il concerto è aperto da "Accident of Birth", in una versione più selvaggia di quella in studio e Bruce dimostra subito un certo dinamismo che sembrava perduto nell'ultimo tour con gli Irons. Dopo la trascurabile "Toltec 7 Arrival / Star Children", che, per quanto ben eseguita non aggiunge nulla al live, c'è "2 Minutes To Midnight", un classico degli Irons, scritto proprio da Bruce con Adrian, che il singer introduce dicendo: "We call this one Mr. Smith goes to San Paulo", che manda in visibilio il pubblico brasiliano. Poi c'è "Darkside fo Aquarius", che è suonata molto bene, ma si sente troppo il basso. Anche in questo caso la canzone è introdotta da una lunga parlata di Bruce. Poi c'è "The Magician", eseguita magistralmente in cui San Paulo canta il selvaggio urlo del ritornello "OH-OH-OOH-OH-OH", ed è molto migliore questa versione che quella registrata in studio.
Poi viene "Road to Hell", eseguita benissimo, che è la sua canzone solista in cui si sente maggiormente lo stile degli Irons (infatto è stata composta insieme a Smith). Poi vengono suonate alcune canzoni degli album precedenti: "Tattooed Millionaire", che suonata con due chitarre ha un impatto molto maggiore sull'ascoltatore, la splendida semi-ballad "Tears of the Dragon" e "Powerlave". Dopo "Taking the Queen", che a mio parere non è una delle migliori del disco, vengono gli ultimi classici da concerto: "Flight of Icarus", a cui Bruce è sempre stato affezionato, "Laughing in the Hiding Bush" dall'album "Balls To Picasso" e la finale "Run To The Hills", nella quale Bruce promette che l'anno successivo verrà, con gli altri ragazzi, a suonare a San Paulo. Infatti sempre a San Paulo verrà registrato il successivo album live, "Scream For Me Brazil".
Questo live non ha un suono eccezionale, ma è bello da ascoltare per gli appassionati di Bruce, che non li delude di certo con una grande prestazione vocale. L'altro difetto di questo live è la completa assenza di canzoni tratte da "Skunworks", che dimostra quanto Bruce si sia allontanato dalla parte della sua carriera più sperimentale (e tribolata e non soddifaciente dal punto di vista commerciale). Non è straordinario, ma vale sempre la pena ascoltare Bruce dal vivo, soprattutto se sembra divertirsi come a San Paulo!
