Trombettista e cantante jazz statunitense (1929–1988), figura centrale del cool jazz e della scena West Coast. Celebre per il suono lirico e la voce sussurrata, collaborò con Gerry Mulligan e Charlie Parker. La sua carriera, intensa e segnata dalla dipendenza, si chiuse ad Amsterdam nel 1988.
