Quinta release per la band Statunitense a distanza di due anni dall'ultimo "Vena Sera", che in 15 anni ormai di attività non ha mai saputo fare quel salto di qualità che li distaccava dal paragone vocalist=tool che ha contraddistinto pateticamente altre band del panorama alternative/rock anche se nel loro major-debut "Wonder what's next" hanno fatto vedere buone cose. Appunto per questo ho voluto recensire quest'ultimo disco avendo sempre avuto in loro quel pizzico di speranza e credibiltà; sembrano aver finalmente mischiato le carte mettendo insieme quel che è stato fatto con un risultato apprezzabili.
Le 11 traccie dell'album scorrono discretamente, dalla open track "Sleep apnea" si può percepire lo stile di come saranno strutturati i ritornelli di quasi tutte le altre canzoni senza mai cadere nel banale, buona la prova in "Mexican sun" ed il primo singolo "letter from a thief" intensa in "This circus"; "Roswell's spell" è l'esempio della maturazione purtroppo tardiva del cantante. C'è anche il tempo per una ballad "Highland's apparition" che questo genere di gruppi non tralascia e non disdegna mai. La traccia che rappresenta senza dubbio l'album è il secondo singolo estratto "Jars" molto bella l'interpretazione soprattutto con un chorus molto catchy che rimane in testa. Di certo ci sono quelle 2-3 traccie che finiscono nel dimenticatoio subito dopo averle ascoltate.
Per chi apprezza il genere consiglio di perderci quella mezz'oretta di ascolto, album non buttare rispetto ai predecessori.

Sci-Fi Crimes rappresenta il quinto lavoro dei Chevelle, che finalmente mostrano una maturazione stilistica senza cadere nel banale. L'album scorre piacevolmente, con brani come "Jars" e "Letter from a Thief" che si distinguono. Non mancano però tracce meno memorabili. Consigliato agli appassionati del genere come ascolto di qualità, rispetto ai lavori precedenti.Tracce testi
