Nel 1997 Dannii Minogue, la sorella di Kylie , realizza "Girl" , suo terzo album di studio. Sei anni dopo il suo esordio discografico con "Love & kissess" e sei anni prima di pubblicare il suo "Neon nights" , album di più successo, pubblica un disco pop-dance con degli ammiccamenti alla musica techno style tipici di fine anni 90 e anche canzoni trance e ambient , in alcuni casi.
La differenza tra i primi due dischi è sottolineata anche dalla ricerca di djs come produttori , ad esempio i bravissimi Xenomania.
L immagine di Dannii , inoltre , diventa più sexy e meno ragazza della porta accanto; il tutto con una strategia di marketing, forse, il cambio dei colori di capelli; visto che Kylie nell album "Impossible princess" sempre del 1997 è scura di capelli , magicamente Dannii diventa bionda e il gioco è fatto.
Il primo pezzo , e anche primo singolo, "All i wanna do" è pop-dance ma semi-techno; qui gli acuti di Dannii si sposano benissimo e si amalgamano a questo athem minoguiano, Seguono "Heaven can wait" che è molto pop e "So in love with yourself" ancora pop-dance con una sorpresa , la sorella Kylie che fa da corista. "Am i dreaming" prosegue la scia del pop, mentre la bellissima "Everybody changes underwater" è una prova di ambient music molto rilassante. Si prosegue con il secondo singolo "Everything i wanted" , che mescola ancora pop-dance alla techno, stessa cosa che succede al pezzo successivo "If it moves - dub it" resa ancora più ballabile. "Diseremembrance", terzo e ultimo singolo, ci porta alla ballagta del disco "Amazing" che fa raggiungere a Dannii delle note bellissime e sensualissime. "Moving up" è l ultimo motivetto ballabilissimo prima della finale , nascosta, della cover "Cocunut", dove Dannii gioca con il computer a mutare la sua voce.
Sebbene il disco non abbia nulla a che vedere con il bellissimo album "Neon nights" del 2003, è comunque una perla nel magico mondo del pop prima del nuovo millennio e sicuramente, nonostante una sorella di più grande spessore, Dannii ha fatto il possibile perchè questo disco venga ricordato e soprattutto recensito.
Grazie a questo "Girl" , nel 1998 Dannii si imbarcò nel suo primo e ultimo tour dal vivo intitolato "Unleashed tour" con tappe solo nel regno unito.
