David Thomas and Two Pale Boys è il trio guidato da David Thomas (voce; Pere Ubu) con Andy Diagram (tromba) e Keith Moliné (chitarra). Dal 1996 ha pubblicato album come Erewhon, Meadville, Surf's Up! e 18 Monkeys on a Dead Man's Chest, esplorando territori experimental/avant-rock con forti elementi performativi.

Erewhon (1996) è ispirato a “Erewhon: or, Over the Range” di Samuel Butler. La strumentazione include malodeon, tromba, chitarra, synth e theremin; lo stile vocale di Thomas è teatrale e multiforme. Il progetto si muove tra folk, jazz e cabaret deformati, distinto dall’avant-rock dei Pere Ubu.
