Sarò ripetitivo, ma l'Europa è a parer mio la patria indiscussa delle sonorità elettroniche più nobili.
I norvegesi Flunk ne sono ancora dei pionieri per qualità ed intensità.
Non credo che Jo, Ulf, Erik e Anja considerino se stessi come dei fautori trip hop (a dire il vero gli artisti con la A maiuscola non si creano recinzioni fatte di generi attorno) ma è doveroso secondo me riconoscere una verve del genere in questa proposta.
La dilatazione del suono, i beat; sono elementi che riconducono ad una certa sensibilità che fa leva sulla ricerca di ritmo, sulla parte primitiva dell'animo. I Flunk riescono a creare questa sensibilità, anzi, a trasmetterla ,e, senza strafare.
Morning Star del 2004 è il loro secondo album ufficiale, rilasciato dalla stessa Beatservice che all'inizio del millennio credette nel progetto.
Chitarra acustica, voce nordica e arrangiamenti fluidi.
Blind My Mind, Kemikal Girl e Spring To Kingdom Come sono tracce che difficilmente lasciano indifferenti. Strizzando gli occhi ai colleghi Björk e Hooverphonic, creando dei tappeti sonori intriganti, tra la malinconia del gelo e la gioia di un sole che sorge su esso. Folk legato indissolubilmente alle intuizioni più ampie e libere dell'elettronica.

La verità è che sono le canzoni a comandare le sensazioni, più delle intenzioni artistiche e dei tecnicismi. Questi quattro le sanno scrivere, le sanno comporre, e le saprebbero far piacere anche suonandole al contrario. Le canzoni migliori sono quelle che ti fanno provare nostalgia di qualcosa che potrebbe non essere mai accaduto.
