Devo fare trasloco e mi viene l'idea di copiare su PC i miei vecchi CD. Nella fila di CD del mio armadio gli ultimi li metto sempre a sinistra, comincio proprio da lì, e il lavoro è abbastanza noioso. Ma piano piano che avanzo verso destra la cosa si fa sempre più interessante, passano i giorni e non è più un lavoro di routine, ma diventa divertimento, diventa una scoperta, soprattutto quanto mi trovo davanti il primo album degli americani Giant, Last Of The Runaways, del 1989, il manuale dell'AOR, ma anche dell'Hard Rock. Ma come potevo essermelo dimenticato? Dan e David Huff, Alan Pasqua e Mike Brignardello che sul finire degli anni '80 ci regalano uno dei migliori dischi del periodo. Certo, suona un pò vecchio, un genere che non tira più. Ma ora che lo riascolto, dopo un periodo di riposo di almeno 10 anni, è come sentire un disco appena uscito, incentrato attorno a quel grande musicista Dan Huff e ai suoi suoni rocciosi di chitarra intervallati da fantastici assoli, e alle tastiere di Alan Pasqua mai in secondo piano e che non si perdono in inutili assoli. Potrei anche descrivere una per una ogni singola canzone, ma la cosa migliore da fare per un appassionato del genere è cercare di procurarsi questo album e ascoltarselo tutto d'un fiato. Perchè è già grave non averlo, ma perseverare è ancora peggio! E pensare che i Giant hanno pubblicato altri 2 album in seguito per certi versi migliori di questo. Incuriositi?
