Cari amici so già cosa voi state pensando, ovvero Hammerfall=Merda, ma a parer mio vi state sbagliando di grosso.
"Legacy of Kings" esce nell'anno 1998 sotto la Nuclear Blast, accolto dalla critica come tutti i cd degli Hammerfall ovvero etichettato come non originale, paccioso e noioso.. e molti di voi danno purtroppo troppa retta a cosa dicono gli "esperti" se così si posso chiamare.
Gli Hammerfall sono uno dei miei gruppi preferiti e mi ricordo ancora quando uscì il loro primo capolavoro "Glory to the Brave", da quel momento sono rimasti nel mio cuore per questo ho deciso di recensire questo cd quà... non arriva ai livelli del loro primo cd ma sicuramente ogni buon defender apprezzerebbe questo gran cd. Bene iniziamo..
il cd parte subito tiratissimo con la stupenda (soprattuto per il ritornello e i cori) "Heeding the Call" dove il testo parla ancora dei Templari, argomento molto caro agli Hammerfall e sempre di buon impatto. La seconda traccia è la title-track e non è niente di speciale ma piacevole come la seguente "Let the Hammer Fall" che però in sede live è una delle più apprezzate e trascinanti. Arriviamo alla chicca dell'album ovvero la stupenda "Dreamland", solo per questa song vale comprare l'album.. Parte subito con un riff tagliente e travolgente che presto viene affiancato dalla doppia cassa che poi ci accompagnerà per tutta la canzone, il ritornello non è cantato in coro come le precedenti e questo già la rende diversa e affascinante poichè la voce di Joacim Cans si sposa benissimo con la melodia.. I minuti insieme a questa song volano via.
Ecco che arriva quindi la piacevole , e ben azzeccata nel chorus, "Remember Yesterday", ballad che già dai primi ascolti si dimostra di facile ascolto e la si ricorda benissimo. Altra stupenda song è la seguente "At the End of the Rainbow" molto orecchiabile. Adesso ci troviamo di fronte a una cover "Back to Back", ben eseguita ma non è nulla di speciale, avrei preferito un'altra canzone dei Warlord magari, come avevano già fatto nel primo cd con la stupenda "Child of the Damned".. peccato. Siamo giunti alla conclusione, "Stronger than All" e semplice ma piacevole, le seguenti "Warriors of Faith" e "The fallen One" si lasciano apprezzare anche se forse sono il punto più basso dell'album che quando ormai sembra concluso ecco che arrivano le due bonus track live "The Metal Age" e la stupenda e trascinantissima "Steel meets Steel" dove tutto il pubblico canta il ritornello..
Bene eccoci giunti alla fine, spero che molti di voi imparino ad apprezzare gli Hammerfall oppure restino pure ad ascoltare i loro idoli Korn e Deftones.. bè che altro dire.. W IL METALLO
