Nel tour mondiale Beast On The Road gli Irons con la formazione rinnovata subito entusiasmano portando in sede live le nuove splendide canzoni. Questo live è quello che sarebbe dovuto uscire nel 1982 come primo live ufficiale, ma per problemi tecnici non se ne fece nulla. Nel 2002, con le nuove tecniche di masterizzazione, si riuscì ad eliminare il fastidioso fischio che si sentiva.
L'esibizione è splendida, con tutta la band coesa che si diverte e con Dickinson che si trova a suo agio con le nuove e le vecchie canzoni, ma che non riesce ancora ad intrattenere molto il pubblico e a farlo partecipare e non dice ancora i suoi storici "Scream for me Hammersmith". Si parte con una grandiosa versione di "Murders in the Rue Morgue", "Wrathchild" non è accolto da un boato del pubblico, ma l'esecuzione di "Run To The Hills" è perfetta. "Children Of The Damned" è suonata bene, ma forse è inferiore alla versione di "Live After Death". Poi c'è "The Number Of The Beast" e dopo ancora una sorprendente "Another Life", che non ci aspettavamo, ma che è ottima e che precede una "Killers" degna dell'era Di'Anno. "22 Acacia Avenue" prevede la partecipazione di una ragazza che mima la storica Charlotte. Dopo la inutile "Total Eclipse", viene una grandiosa "Transylvanya" con tanto di mega assolo di chitarra prolungato, poi "The Prisioner" infiamma la folla con la splendida parte centrale e "Hallowed Be Thy Name" è semplicemente mitica, ma purtroppo Dickinson non fa urlare il pubblico durante la sua coda strumentale. Grande esecuzione lo stesso. "Phantom Of The Opera", "Iron Maiden" e "Sanctuary" sono ottime, ma un grande pezzo è "Drifter", in cui finalmente Dickinson fa cantare il pubblico e offre una splendida interpretazione. "Running Free" non è cantata dal pubblico, ma la conclusiva "Prowler" è un'ultima chicca che chiude in bellezza lo show. Ci sono live migliori, ma questo è proprio come erano gli Irons degli inizi, giovani ma già maturi, violenti ma perfetti.
Le canzoni migliori sono "Murders in the Rue Morgue", "Transylvanya", "Hallowed Be Thy Name" e "Drifter"; tre su quattro sono canzoni dei primi due album, ma questo è perchè ormai sono rodate nei live e più spontanee forse, nelle quali si può improvvisare. Il video, presente nel dvd "The Early Days", è discreto, di buona qualità e comprende "Murders in the Rue Morgue", "Run to the Hills", "Children of the Damned", "The Number Of The Beast", "22 Acacia Avenue", "Total Eclipse", "The Prisioner", "Hallowed Be Thy Name" e "Iron Maiden".
