Questa volta J Mascis non si presenta sotto la sua solita incarnazione, ma poco importa, da sempre i Dinosaur Jr. erano solo lui, fino ad arrivare a suonare su "Green Mind" tutti gli strumenti da solo. Mascis è anche quello che ha reso di nuovo ascoltabile l`assolo di chitarra virtuoso, bandito dal punk. Questa volta su questo disco registrato in 9 mesi "off and on" compare pure Kevin Shields dei My Bloody Valentine, che per 7 settimane era presente "producing, playing some guitar, percussion and singing". Questo è quello che dicono le peraltro scarnissime note di copertina. E così sono presenti due dei più influenti chitarristi degli ultimi 15 anni, due cavalieri dell' apocalisse della distorsione, che hanno provato tutto quello che si poteva tirare fuori da una chitarra elettrica, sperimentando seppure per vie diverse. Per il resto è un tipico disco Dinosaur, Mascis riesce sempre a produrre bei dischi, apparentemente senza sforzo con la occasionale canzone più lenta, qui "Ground Me to You" e sono sicuro che é qui che si sente Shields che suona il riff in sottofondo, la voce addormentata e lamentosa di Mascis, che sembra sempre registrare appena uscito dal letto. Tipico anche il fading delle canzone, troncate improvvisamente, abbassando nel mix il volume, quando J non trova una chiusura degna. Chiuse così anche a metà assolo. Un bel disco come tutti quelli dei Dinosaur, anche se manca il hit single come su "Where You Been". Un disco senza tempo. Come tutti quelli dei Dinosaur.
