Tra i vari album postumi usciti questo doppio cd è a mio avviso uno dei migliori. Già era uscito qualche anno prima in una veriosne ridotta "Radio One" che subito acquistai ma qui c'è veramente quasi tutta la produzione alla BBC di Hendrix.
All'epoca un po' tutti gli artisti avevano questa magnifica abitudine di suonare rigorosamente dal vivo alla radio inglese per poi trasmetterli nel programma. Badate bene.. dal vivo!!!! Non si limitavano, le radio ad eseguire solo il disco a ripetzione, ma gli artisti riregistravano i pezzi a volte anche con inediti. Prima di lui i Beatles, gli Stones (a quando una loro uscita simile!!!), The who e tanti altri.
In questa complitation accanto a pezzi mitici (Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, Hey Joe) abbiamo la possibilità di sentire Hendrix in quello che per me è il più grande assolo che ha registrato… quello su "Driving South" (attenzione ci sono due versioni ma si capisci benissimo di quale parlo) che fa il paio con quello di "Come On" su "Electric Ladyland". Questo brano venica già eseguito dal nostro nel periodo pre Experience.
Abbiamo poi tante perle: la "Daytripper" di cui si favoleggiava ci fossero le voci di Lennon e McCartney (non è verò!!!), i blues "Catfish Blues" e "Hoochie Coochie Man, ", una cover di un pezzo poco noto di Dylan "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?""e anche pezzi raramente suonati dal vivo come "Love Or Confusion", "Wait Until Tomorrow" e"Manic depressions" più corta rispetto a quella di "Live at winterlan". Ultima chicca il jingle per la sigla di Radio One scritto direttamente da Hendrix.
La qualità audio è ottima, il cd si trova molto facilmente ed a prezzo economico… quindi!!!
