Il genere Epic Metal è stata sempre una variante di nicchia per gli appassionati, ma i Kamelot sono l'eccezione della regola... capaci di miscelare suoni epici con spiragli di vero power metal, il loro stile è davvero inconfondibile, anche grazie alla voce di Khan, che rende ogni canzone dei Kamelot un loro marchio indistinguibile...
>L'album è formato da canzoni di 4/5 minuti circa alternate ad introduzioni spesso recitate e che sembrano provenire direttamente dalle atmosfere di banchetti medievali, di guerre antiche... insomma, c'è un gusto medievale molto particolare in quest'album, che però mostra certo delle incertezze... le canzoni normali sono tecnicamente buone, anche se fanno storcere il naso la loro monotona struttura (ritornelli a non finire). Per quanto riguarda il genere ripercorso, troviamo canzoni power metal (tra cui la maestosa "III ways to epica" e la tiratissima "Descendent Of The Archangel"), ballate un po' sdolcinate ma gradevoli (On The Coldest Winter Night) e marcie Epic Rock notevoli (The Morning After). Il tutto contornato dalla trascinante chitarra di Youngblood (non un mostro di tecnica ma comunque un bravo chitarrista), dall'ottimo apporto batteristico di Grillo, mentre rimane un po' in ombra Barry con il suo basso...
In conclusione, questa sorprendente formazione Metal sorprende per l'efficacia di alcune canzoni, soprattuttuo in questo LP davvero niente male (superiori ai precedenti come Karma, fourth Legacy e Dominion), però c'è da notare comunque un po' troppe influenze easy listening e un po' poppettare, ma questo non fa altro che attirare sia fan metallari che individui più indirizzati verso lidi meno hard rock...
