Mi accingo a recensire il più bel lavoro dei Kiss subito dopo due altri grandi album quali "Destroyer" e "Creatures Of The Night", in effetti questi tre CD formano quella sacra trilogia che non deve assolutamente mancare a nessun fan dei Kiss e che dovrebbero ascoltare almeno una volta tutti gli appassionati di Hard'n'Heavy.
Questo lavoro uscito il 30.06.77 è un album che contiene canzoni che sul palco hanno mandato in delirio intere platee come ad esempio la title track e fortissima "Love Gun" o la bellissima "I Stole Your Love". Ma chi non conosce quest' album sicuramente si sta chiedendo perchè lo stia esaltando cosi, adesso lo analizzerò fino in fondo di modo che a fine recensione tutti avrete un idea precisa di questo masterpiece del bacio (almeno lo spero).
Bene, dopo aver inserito il CD nel nostro stereo verremo subito scossi da quello che è il bellissimo intro di "I Stole Your Love", infatti le due chitarre elettriche della band si fonderanno per creare una durissima armonia che ci farà immergere immediatamente all' interno di questa track che trova sopratutto nella voce altissima di Paul Stanley il suo punto forte, è stata spesso un brano di apertura di molti concerti dei Kiss, proprio perchè ha la capacità di dare una carica adrenalica che peraltro successivamente sentirete aumentare per il resto dell'album. Subito dopo un ritmato riff di piano darà alle nostre orecchie il benvenuto in un altro caposaldo della band "Christine Sixteen", alquanto strana questa traccia che è una fusione tra una Power Ballad ed un brano Hard Rock, The Demon alla voce inizia a ringhiare e questo successo dei Kiss inizia a catturarci sempre di più, sottolineerei volentieri il lavoro alla chitarra eseguito da Frehley in questo brano che non è per niente scarso, sopratutto sono molto particolari nei ritornelli finali le sovraincisioni vocali (tipiche dei Kiss per averne un altro esempio ascoltate "We Are One") dove mentre Gene Simmons ringhia "I gotta have you" il resto della band continua a ripetere insistentemente il ritornello. Track molto bella e piacevole ma andiamo pure avanti per arrivare ad un' altro pezzo quale "Got Love For Sale" dove l'inizio di chitarra è alquanto oscuro e cattura subito la nostra attenzione, e la nostra attenzione non è catturata invana perchè il pezzo non decade per niente, il ritornello è abbastanza piacevole e la buona prestazione di Gene Simmons alla voce ed una chitarra dura ed energica rendono questo brano una buona track, forse per riuscire ad apprezzare al meglio questa canzone bisogna ascoltarla varie volte perchè a primo impatto può sembrare inutile e infantile.
Ed ora dopo un brevo rullo di batteria la chitarra del novello cantante Frehley ci trasporta nel nuovo brano "Shock Me" dove troviamo appunto proprio Ace Frehley dietro il microfono, sicuramente un paragone tra le canzoni cantate da Criss e Frehley va fatto perchè per quanto bella "Shock Me" non può competere con brani dell'uomo gatto quali "Beth" e "Hard Luck Woman", ma rimane sempre un' ottimo brano, l'assolo chitarristico fa da padrone in una track veramente notevole, infatti il ritornello è abbastanza orechiabile e come ho gia detto prima l'assolo è uno dei più belli dei Kiss. Passiamo ora ad un brano veramente bello cioè "Tomorrow And Tonight", carico di adrenalina, sprizza energia da tutti i pori, sembra fatto apposta per sfrenarsi, il ritornello è molto accattivante, ma sono invece le strofe quelle che danno l'energia, la voce di Paul non scende minimamente e come risultato finale si ha questo pezzo bellissimo, unica macchia è l'assolo non troppo carico di Ace, ma ciò non butta nessuna ombra su un brano che sono sicurò vi piacerà molto e vi caricherà di energia, passiamo ora alla title track ed inchiniamoci di fronte laa magnifica "Love Gun", pezzo più hard dell'intero album è durissimo, anche la voce femminile di Paul assume toni più aggressivi in questa che è tra le più belle canzoni dei Kiss, il ritornello è poi qualcosa di accattivante e malizioso all'ennesima potenza, una serie di cori che ripetono la frase Love Gun ci deliziano gli organi uditivi, e poi ciliegina sulla torta quell' assolo da favola che è paragonabile ad un tornado, complimenti al guitarist e complimenti a Paul per aver scritto un pezzo simile, ma ora andiamo avanti, ecco arrivare il momento canoro di Peter che dopo averci coccolato i timpani con brani ruffiani come "Beth" e "Hard Luck Woman" si presenta a noi con un brano fortissimo quale "Hooligan", in effetti Peter non ci tradisce mai, ogni volta che si mette a cantare è magia (oltre i brani prima citati c'è anche la bellissima "Black Diamond" come non citarla), il brano è in pieno stile Kiss ed è abbastanza hard e nonostante Peter sia occupato a cantare non perde certo affidabilità sulla batteria dove esegue riff veramente potenti.
Poi una rockeggiante chitarra ed un colpo di gong ci aprono le porte di "Almost Human" brano di Gene dalle tonalità molto forti e veloci, le parti di basso sono veramente molto ben riuscite e il ritornello con i cori in sottofondo è veramente inquietante, brano che accende fortemente quei toni durissimi che i Kiss matureranno definitivamente in "Creatures Of The Night", a dire la verità la batterie e l'assolo di chitarra non riescono in questo brano a raggiungere un livello abbastanza alto come al contrario fa Gene che riesce a firmare veramente un buon lavoro. Ed è sempre il basso di Gene ad aprire "Plaster Caster" un pezzo con ritmi e chitarre in pieno stile Kiss, qua la voce di Gene abbandona le tonalità ringhianti per assumere un tono più pacato, la canzone ha un testo divertentissimo perchè parla di una groupie che faceva dei calchi in gesso degli organi genitali delle rockstar, tanto per farvi sorridere vi trascriverò un pezzo del brano "Lei è una collezionatrice e vuole una perte di me, lei ha il mio arnese in mano" non se a voi fa ridere ma ha me ha strappato uno smile.
Ed ora ecco l'ultimo brano cioè "Then She Kissed Me" che per essere un brano Hard rock è veramente rilassante e dolce, la voce di Paul è più malinconica che mai, la chitarra di Ace esegue dei riff dolcissimi ed un sottofondo di batteria e nacchere dona un ritmo ispanico alla canzone che ciude in bellezza quest'album e rilassa tantissimo le orecchie dell'ascoltatore.
Bene questo è "Love Gun", spero di essere stato esauriente anche perchè ho passato le ore a scrivere, vi propongo questa rece e vi consiglio di acquistare questo bellissimo album, vi assicuro che non ve ne pentirete.
