In un periodo dove non passa giorno in cui non ci si esponga, spesso involontariamente, alle radiazioni proto-punk di piccole garage bands che si imitano a vicenda fino allo sfinimento, sarebbe forse opportuno cominciare a "rifugiarsi altrove". Almeno per un'oretta. Bergen-Norvegia. Pochi giorni fa c'è stato il nuovo record assoluto di pioggia. Ben 3000 millimetri d'acqua ma la gente era più interessata al concerto che si stava svolgendo in un piccolo locale della zona. I Magnet, progetto musicale dietro al quale si cela il pallidissimo Even Johansen provengono da una nazione che continua a sfornare ottimi songwriters, noncurante del fatto che il mondo musicale attualmente è ostaggio inerme di indiavolate chitarre elettriche e di cattivissimi "THE" incappucciati.
Nella musica di Johansen (come anche in quella di Sondre Lerche del resto) non c'è proprio niente di nordico, anzi. Atmosfere calde e intime, virate tutte sull'arancione e sul giallo: un piccolo e tiepido sole che riscalda il cervello. Da qualche parte mi è capitato di leggere che i Magnet "suonano un po' come i Radiohead senza addosso la paranoia". Vero. Il sound è acustico, con piccoli frammenti di elettronica minimalista. Riverberi mai eccessivi e un sussurro che potrebbe essere quello di Nick Talbot, di Samuel Beam o semplicemente della persona che amate.
Lo avete sentito e risentito migliaia di volte eppure ogni volta è un esperienza nuova. Ogni volta non v'importa più di quello che all'esterno cade dal cielo. Che siano gocce di pioggia o ranocchie.
