1975, dopo due anni intensissimi giungeva a termine l'attività dei ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS seminale band proto punk di cleveland, tra l'altro senza la pubblicazione di alcun disco, almeno fino al 1990 con l' uscita del postumo 'Life stink' contenente una registrazione radiofonica dei loro primi lavori, molto meglio il disco uscito nel 2002 "The day the earth met the Rocket from the tombs", con registrazioni dal vivo del 1975, splendida testimonianza di pre-punk agli albori.
Sfaldatosi il gruppo Stiv Bators e Cheetah chrome andranno a formare i Dead Boys, mentre David Thomas e Peter Laughner daranno vita ai Pere Ubu, 'Terminal Tower' non è solo una semplice raccolta, ma è la testimonianza dei primi autoprodotti 45 giri del gruppo nonche tra gli ultimi a firma Thomas-Laughner quest' ultimo nel 77 lascera il gruppo per una carriera solista, morirà di li a poco per overdose (altre fonti riportano altre cause).
La prima formazione degli Ubu comprendeva oltre al duo Thomas-Laughner rispettivamente cantante e chitarrista, Tom Herman altro chitarrista, Scott Krauss alla batteria il bassista Tom Wright e il massacratore di sinth Allen Ravestine, quest ultimo essenziale allo svilluppo del sound del gruppo. Inspirati dalla cleveland anni 70 la loro musica sarà una perfetta colonna sonora dove il degrado e l'alienazione si fondono, forse la piu reale rappresentazione dell'idea di apocalisse mai messa su disco, tematiche che poi riprenderanno sull'esordio "The Modern Dance" (1978) disco capolavoro tra i migliori del periodo e tra i piu influenti della storia del rock.
30 Seconds over tokyo/Heart of darkness (9-75), Final solution/cloud 149 (3-76) , Street waves/My dark age (10-76). Modern dance/Heaven (1-77), questi in pratica sono i primi capolavori di una band da molti considerata la migliore in assoluto degli anni 70.
