La voce di Sade è come l’avorio; arriva dalla terra africana; è prezioso e pregiato e specialmente è doloroso, rimembra ricordi duri e difficili da cancellare.
Sade: lei e il suo gruppo hanno saputo in più di 25 anni di carriera, continuare il loro percorso, senza spaventarsi dei consensi in calo, o di una musica che si commercializza e si adegua, ostinati hanno continuato a pregare… .
È del '92 l’uscita di “Love deluxe”, un “ensemble” di appena 9 canzoni, tra cui l’acustica “Mermaid”, tutte preziose, a cui si aggiunge una rinnovata malinconia mescolata ad un suono più crudo, l’anticipazione di ciò che faranno poi i Massive Attack con “Blue Line”.
È però la voce di Helen Folasade Adu, a regalarmi il famoso “varco” (tanto ricercato da Montale), lo spazio-tempo per evadere, per fermare il tempo e tutte le sue complicazioni; il poter rinnovare i propri pensieri ascoltando solamente una voce ed il suo splendido canto.
“No Ordinary Love”, è banalmente perfetta, calzante; fluida; liquida nel muoversi e nel “mixarsi” alla voce di Sade, che esplica un amore rinnovatore; non ORDINARIO appunto. “Cherish the Day” è fatta di poche cose, una batteria elettronica, una chitarra lontana e la voce profonda e irraggiungibile, che ancora una volta riesce ad essere la sola e unica protagonista, ma è “Pearls” il vero miracolo, una delle canzoni più evocative che io abbia mai ascoltato, quei violini malinconici e in angolo, una melodia che si disegna indipendentemente da un ritornello, e quella voce che ancora una volta emoziona; e prega.. Alleluia.. grida il finale; e anche per me che sono così lontano dalla religione; perché ateo mi sembra quasi impossibile poter pregare; poter credere, magari non ad un Dio, ma a qualcosa che ci sostiene che ci rende così sensibili e pronti a crescere.
Questo album, mi solleva dai momenti di crisi, mi ricollega ad immagini, a libri letti, a persone importanti ma specialmente a me stesso ed all’importanza di continuare a conoscermi, di continuare a scoprirmi, attraverso la voce di Sade.
