Non sono passati neanche due anni che i grandissimi Sadus, dopo il buon esordio di "Chemical Exposure" tornano alla ribalta con il nuovo "Swallowed In Black".
La band guidata dal bass-hero Steve DiGiorgio ci propone un altro lavoro che sa incrociare Thrash e Death come il precedente con la differenza che già ci troviamo di fronte a canzoni più ponderate e ricercate, dimostrando l'evoluzione stilistica che stavano operando i Sadus per arrivare a quel capolavoraccio qual'è il successivo "A Vision Of Misery" con il quale cominceranno ad essere più conosciuti.
Ma parliamo di quest'album, che come il precedente dopo trenta secondi di atmosfera oscura parte con l'infernale "Black", canzone incontenibile in tutti i suoi riffs sparati senza pausa alcuna, per poi passare a "Man Infestation", che si apre lenta ma solo per poco, perché i nostri amici non ci pensano due volte a ricominciare il macello, anche se troviamo un rallentamento molto figo alla fine per dare spazio ad altre bordate come "Last Abide", "The Wake" e "In Your Face" che ci portano a "Good Rid’nz", che assieme a "False Incarnation", "Arise" e la finale "Oracle Of Obmission" rappresenta uno dei veri punti di forza del disco, anche se bisogna dire che anche "Images" e "Power Of Hate" meritano di essere citate.
Da notare è il lavoro dell'intera band, che riesce a suonare canzoni violente con disinvoltura ed una buona tecnica, su tutti la sezione ritmica guidata dal batterista John Allen che mena come un posseduto ma soprattutto il grandissimo Steve D., come di consueto protagonista assoluto grazie alle sua prestazione bassistica extraterrestre. Buone anche le chitarre di Rob Moore e Darren Travis, sempre devastanti e pronte a tirare assoli da paura. Ultima menzione va alla voce di Travis, per nulla un growl ma che riesce lo stesso a dare un impatto distruttivo alla parte strumentale grazie alla cattiveria che sprigiona.
E' molto difficile trovarlo ora come ora dato che i lavori dei Sadus sono ormai fuori stampa, però se ci riuscite non pensateci due volte a farlo vostro perché questo "Swallowed In Black" è veramente un album molto figo che si presenta sicuramente come uno dei più grandi percussori del Progressive Death Metal.
