DALLA CREAZIONE DELLA TERRA AL GIUDIZIO UNIVERSALE
(Dalla nascita della vita alla sua fine, la colonna sonora delle fasi estreme dell'essere)
"Human Being" (Essere Umano), il terzo album di Seal non ha mezze misure. Non si interessa per nulla della superficie, ma scava nel profondo dell'animo dell'uomo. La traccia di apertura "Human Beings" è quella che meglio rappresenta questa inclinazione. Una canzone maestosa e possente, che potrebbe essere perfettamente utilizzata come la spaventosa ed abbagliante colonna sonora, di una scena di giudizio universale. Ascoltare queste note è come trovarsi sotto ad un altissimo antico obelisco, guardardandone la cima.
Siamo attrati ed intimoriti allo stesso tempo, impauriti dalla mole, ma rapiti dalla enorme bellezza ed estrema semplicità. Il suono è bello ed inquietante, la vocalità di Seal perfetta e potente. L'interpretazione dell'artista esprime una grossa ansietà, propria di chi non sa cosa sarà del suo (e degli uomini in generale soprattutto) destino, ma sa già che esso è segnato indelebilmente. Così come rispecchia anche lo splendido testo, da questo:
"Please Human being, If you bleed they will say it was destined. . . So destined desperate. . . We're mere human beings, we die It's destined..."
Non scema la forza espressiva della prima traccia nelle successive 11, che mantengono la stessa elevatissima tensione musicale. Un guscio di modernissimo sound pop, racchiude un cuore romantico e antico, espresso dalla voce calda e dai testi angoscianti e passionali dell'autore. È come installare uno stereo hi-tech ultimo grido, fra le pietre delle mura di un antico castello medioevale. Questo sarebbe l'ambiente perfettamente consono a fare risuonare le note di questo album. Altre tracce degne di segnalazione: l'angosciante ma incantevole "State Of Grace", la rapida e sintetica sonorità che conduce a uno splendido ritornello in "Latest Craze", ancora la trascinante "Just Like You Said", la serena e consapevole rassegnazione di "Lost My Faith", la dolce e potente "When A Man Is Wrong" ed infine la meravigliosa canzone chitarra e voce "Princess" una ballata antica di uno splendore senza tempo.
Il tema centrale dell'opera è il mistero dell'ineluttabile destino verso il quale gli esseri umani vanno incontro. Il tutto è realizzato con note che rendono perfettamente l'idea di ciò che l'anima dei testi vuole trasmetterci. Le parole sono di una sensibilità e di una umanità che bene interpretano il lato migliore del titolo dell'album (ovvero dell'Essere Umano). L'interpretazione canora di Seal per questo album è assolutamente impagabile.
