Ascoltando il primo disco dei Silent Civilian verrebbe subito da chiedersi “ma cosa ha combinato Jhonny Santos?” …
Proprio lui che lasciò gli 'Spineshank', una delle band più valide in circolazione al tempo, perché stava diventando un gruppo troppo “trendy”.
Proprio lui che ora si lascia trasportare da questa ondata metalcore in cui il 90% delle band non riesce a stare a galla. Il titolo del disco è “Rebirth of the Temple” ma più che rinascita di un qualcosa a me sembra la vera sconfitta di un cantante assolutamente bravissimo.
Infatti si, la baracca del disco in questione la tiene in piedi solo il nostro amato Santos altrimenti questo cd di cui ora stiamo parlando sarebbe passato assolutamente inosservato. Parlando dell’artwork del disco bisogna dire che è abbastanza carino e molto curato mentre musicalmente il livello scende di parecchio.
I 'Silent Civilian' sembrano attingere a piene mani sia dai vari 'KillSwitch Engage' e 'Caliban' ma soprattutto dalle nuove leve quali 'Trivium' e gli ottimi 'Bullet For My Valentine'. L’intento della band sarebbe quello di suonare un thrash-metal brutale ma senza mai perdere di vista una certa melodia di fondo. La prestazione del componente più famoso della band è comunque superlativa.
Tra le tracce migliori del disco sicuramente la title-track, “The Song Remains Un-Named” e “Divided”. Anche “Lies in The House of Shame” non è affatto male.
Infine una curiosità: c’è una canzone intitolata “Dead To Me 2006”, stesso titolo di una vecchia canzone degli 'Spineshank' con l’ovvia aggiunta della data.
