La storia è nota: 1500 band per un solo vincitore, in palio un contratto con la sempre più tentacolare Nuclear Blast, e ad aggiudicarselo è proprio la band dei tre fratelli Sjunnesson, formata nel 2002 con l'originario monicker di Fallen Angels.
Detta così sembra di essere al cospetto di una sorta di "Operazione Trionfo" con Anders Friden a fare le veci di Miguel Bosè, ed in effetti il sospetto che più che le velleità artistiche siano state valutate le potenzialità commerciali è in questo caso più che una certezza, come ben testimoniato dal look ultra curato dei sei musicisti svedesi e dallo spiegamento di mezzi promozionale che ha accompagnato l'uscita del disco.
Con queste premesse la miscela sonora proposta dalla band non poteva che essere un metal moderno ed estremamente ricco di groove, ed in effetti così è: in occasione del secondo lavoro i nostri dimostrano di aver letteralmente consumato gli ultimi dischi dei leader della scena modern metal europea (In Flames e Soilwork) e dei gruppi più in vista del metalcore melodico americano (Still Remains, Bleeding Trough), veri e propri numi tutelari di questo "Only Inhuman".
Tutto già sentito dunque? Assolutamente si, ma anche tutto estremamente efficace: difficile infatti resistere di fronte alla carica di canzoni come "Afterneath" o "Denied" (primo singolo, bello anche il video), per non parlare della tamarissima cover delle T.A.T.U "All About Us", senza dimenticare le restanti nove tracce, acoltando le quali vi sarà difficile non muovere il piedino o non trovarvi a cantarne i ritornelli sotto la doccia dopo solo due ascolti...
Certamente è innegabile come i sei "sindacalisti sonici" non inventino nulla, ma, grazie anche al prezioso supporto di mamma Nuke, ci consegnano un pacchetto estremamente curato sotto tutti i punti di vista (dal packaging alla produzione davvero "boombastica") che farà la felicità delle nuove generazioni emo-metal abituate a fare colazione con i "cinque accordi di Kinder Metalcore più".
Se invece, come il sottoscritto, pur avendo qualche anno e/o qualche ascolto in più non vi infastidisce il fatto che la plastica che troverete in questo cd non sia solo quella della custodia ma ne permei a fondo anche il contenuto del supporto audio, beh... date una chance a questo secondo lavoro dei Sonyc Syndicate: quando poi però vi troverete a cantare testi intrisi di lirismo come "You're someone to the world, but you're the world for someone" (da Psychic Suicide: ma devono aver copiato mia sorella che scriveva le stesse cose sulla sua Smemo in 3° media...) non dite che non vi avevo avvertito!!
