Intransigenza Metalcore portata all'estremo; è l'abissale biglietto da visita degli americani Strife.
E' il secondo disco questo "In This Defiance" uscito nel 1997 per la Victory Records, etichetta con sede a Chicago celebre per aver prodotto band del calibro di Earth Crisis, Snapcase ed Integrity. Tutte dedite ad un Hardcore di "seconda generazione" sempre oltraggioso violento ed estremo; sommando a ciò tempi non veloci, ma più sfiancanti e ragionati. Ed il riferimento musicale si dirige ancora una volta verso gli insuperati maestri Slayer.
La distanza che separa l'Hardcore ed il Metal viene annullata dagli Strife; pregni di etica Hardcore-Straight Edge come pochi altri.
Trenta minuti spasmodici e letali; ogni strofa viene urlata, tirata allo spasimo e sbattutta in faccia con cinica pesantezza.
Le chitarre stoppate dilaniano, erigendo un muro sonoro insormontabile; la sezione ritmica secca, squadrata e prossima alla saturazione ingigantisce il senso di totale oppressione creato da questi cinque ossessi.
Collaborano alle registrazioni personaggi che non necessitano di presentazioni: Igor Cavalera, Chino Moreno, Dino Cazares.
Per una volta trovo inutile segnalare anche un solo brano: MICIDIALI...
