Eccola, è ritornata una delle voci più belle nel campo rock, con il suo secondo cd da solista, e questa volta in grandissimo stile e forma.
Lasciata da parte la storia oramai straconosciuta con i Nightwish, Tarja torna con un cd (il secondo)a mio avviso magnifico, elegante, artistico e affascinante, con piu sfaccettature: dal rock/metal, al classico, alla lirica, all'etnico, con orchestrazioni essenziali e cori epici, e con atmosfere vagamente dark con lei che sfoggia una voce da grande soprano a volte e angelica altre.
S'inizia con "ITE MISSA EST" intro che ci porta al primo singolo "I WALK ALONE", canzone costruita su una base del Requiem di Mozart, con partenza insolita e un po "perplessa" ma con un ritornello e una ripresa musicale veramente coinvolgente, non bisogna fermarsi al primo ascolto. "LOST NORTHEN STAR" prima canzone che strizza l'occhio allo stile Nightwish, canzone dark con chitarre pesanti. Di nuovo intro con "SEEKING FOR THE REIGN" per portarci alla prima perla del cd "THE REIGN": voce sublime da grande soprano con un tappeto musicale classico con orchestra, poi batteria tribale con assolo di grandi archi, toccante.Terzo intro "THE ESCAPE OF DOLL" per poi arrivare a "MY LITTLE PHOENIX", di nuovo aleggia vagamente lo stile Nightwish, con chitarre pesanti che cadenzano e rincorrono una splendida sessione di archi. "DIE ALIVE", la canzone "erede" di Nemo? Puo essere.... bel ritmo rock, con intermezzo di cori epici, e ritornello che si stampa in testa e non ti lascia piu. "BOY AND THE GHOST", parte con un tappeto orchestrale e pianoforte per poi con il gran finale con grande orchestra e cori epici. "SING FOR ME", altro gioiello del cd, un canto un po sinistro apre la canzone ma subito la voce di Tarja fa capire che è una canzone dolce e avvolgente, con un orchestra calda e non rindondante, fa proseguire il cammino della canzone per sfociare in grandi cori maestosi e epici.... "OASIS", a mio avviso punta di diamante del cd, toccante e commovente, archi, pianoforte e atmosfere medioriente, sembra uscito dalla colonna sonora del "Gladiatore" o una composizione di musica classica contemporanea di Roberto Cacciapaglia. Voce bellissima e eterea.
"POISON" rifacimento di una canzone di Alice Cooper, riveduta e corretta alla Tarja. "OUR GREAT DIVIDE", lento malinconico con orchestra, basso, tastiera, batteria e voce... commovente, con picchi di voce da grande soprano, sembra una romanza di Puccini in chiave moderna. "SUNSET", intro di "DAMNED AND DIVINE", canzone dark lenta con orchestra e cori, versione secondo me migliore la seconda, remix, con chitarre piu pesanti e musica piu piena. "CIARAN'S WELL" la canzone piu "estrema" del cd, ottima sarebbe stata nel cd Wishmaster: chitarre pesanti, con cantato dark .Altra gemma, "MINOR HEAVEN", lenta, con grande orchestra e vagamente celtica, con grandi cori, canzone che sarebbe stata bene nel nuovo lavoro dei Nightwish. "CALLING GRACE", acustica di grande pathos con il chitarrista degli Angra a sfoggiare un arpeggio leggermente jazzato, accompagnato da un suono caldo di un violoncello.
Grande produzione, e poi, mettete il cd in cuffia, chiudete gli occhi e dall'inizio alla fine vi sembrera di stare dentro un film.... magico. Da evidenziare "I WALK ALONE IN EXTREMO REMIX" con ghironda, un medievaleggiante rock, come un Ritchie Blackmore potrebbe comporre con i suoi Blackmore's Night... con un sapore che sa di Bretagna.
Grande Tarja.... grande ritorno... speriamo di vederla nel 2008 in Italia.
